Profile
The Music Director will develop, coordinate, and oversee the worship music programs at the Humboldt Park campus, playing a vital role in fostering a dynamic worship experience that aligns with the church’s mission. This individual will lead and develop a team of musicians and support the worship department, ensure sound quality, and oversee music production and training efforts. The ideal candidate for this role is someone who is willing to work most Sundays throughout the year (max of six Sundays can be missed throughout the year).
Ministry Responsibilities
Worship Leadership
• Coordinate weekly worship services, collaborating with Worship Leaders to select, arrange, and lead music.
• Train, schedule, and mentor musicians, vocalists, and worship production teams, encouraging their spiritual and musical growth.
• Oversee music selection to ensure a balance between traditional worship values and innovative expressions that resonate with the congregation.
Sunday Service Preparation
• Communicate roles and responsibilities to band members for each Sunday.
• Make resources (chord charts, tracks) available to all vocalists and musicians through our Planning Center and Stem Library.
• Oversee audio and stage setup, including routing and patching instruments, ensuring sound quality and production excellence.
• Prepare and manage Ableton sessions and all supporting materials for each service.
Music Production & Studio Management
• Manage the church-owned studio and oversee recording projects, including producing backing vocals, new arrangements for songs and other studio recordings.
• Oversee purchasing and maintenance of all studio equipment.
Sound & Technology
• Maintain sound equipment at Humboldt Park Campus, liaising with Sound Engineers to ensure optimal sound quality.
• Develop the technical skills of sound and production team members to support an immersive worship experience.
• Continually adapt to emerging technologies to enhance worship experiences.
Recruitment & Training
• Actively recruit new musicians and production volunteers, promoting a culture of learning and growth.
• Provide training workshops and ongoing development opportunities for team members, bridging generational and cultural gaps.
Special Events & Commitments
• Prepare and participate in major church events such as Easter, Christmas, and church-wide gatherings.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Music, Worship Arts, or related field preferred but not required.
- Membership: If you are not currently a member of New Life Covenant Church, you will be required to become a member.
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years in worship ministry leadership with experience in musical directing.
- Skills: Proficient in leading worship, music theory, and Ableton or similar music production software. Strong organizational, communication, and team-building skills.
- Technological Proficiency: Comfortable with Planning Center, understanding of audio mixing, and other worship technology tools.

- Demonstrates the ability to lead teams of people and manage multiple projects effectively and efficiently
- Is a team player and willing to do tasks outside of regular job responsibilities when needed
- Strong communication skills (both verbal and written)
- Good administrative, organizational, and event-planning skills
- General knowledge of standard office equipment
