  • SOUND + VISION: An Exhibition of Art Inspired by Sound

Hardy & Nance Studios is pleased to announce our Call for Entries for the “SOUND + VISION: An Exhibition of Art Inspired by Sound” that coincides with our Third Saturday Open Studios on November 15, 2025 from 5-10pm. This call for entries is open to all artists in Houston and surrounding areas working in 2D & 3D media.

THEME: Artwork that is inspired by all things sound, audio, music, vibration et al. As always original work is expected. Collaborations and conceptual submissions are fine to submit. If you possess artwork by another person that you think would look great in the show- reach out and let's discuss!

MEDIUM: Can be any medium of your choosing*. Please no loose glitter or confetti. If using those two mediums, they must be completely adhered and sealed to the substrate so that they will not fall off. We will test this at drop off and will reject artwork if glitter comes off on hands.

*AI generated art/images will not be permitted.

  • SUBMISSION DEADLINE:

Artists can submit images* and information for up to four (4) pieces per artist, no later than November 3rd, 2025 at 11:59pm.

You may enter work in progress pieces for this show as long as it's at least 50-75% complete and will be completed by drop off if selected- or you have communicated that the work is conceptual in nature falling outside of normal guidelines for curatorial team to consider.

This is a curated show, so some pieces may not be chosen.

    * Image files no larger than 2MB. Images must be labeled Last Name, First Name, Title. (ex. Smith_John_Untitled1.jpg)

  • ART SHOW FEE:

The Cash Only entry fee for this show is $15 per accepted piece to be collected during drop off. If entry fee is not brought during drop off, we cannot accept art. There is no fee to submit images for consideration. *Please contact us if you need assistance in making the fee. We cannot accommodate every scenario but will certainly look at an artists' situation and do our best to take care of you.

There is NO commission fee involved and therefore artists will handle all sales transactions. Be sure to have Square, Paypal, Venmo, Cash App or other application to take credit card sales.

If an artist is unable to handle any sales transactions, we are happy to facilitate the sale on your behalf for a 20% stipend to cover processing & handling fees.

  • THE IMPORTANT STUFF:

    1. All artwork must be original by the artist(s), available for purchase, and cannot have been previously shown in the Hardy & Nance Gallery.

    2. Size Restrictions: There is no size constraint. 2D and wall mounted work, standalone 3D/sculptural work must fit through a standard door way.

*AI generated art/images will not be permitted.

    4. We prefer wall hanging artwork to be wired with picture wire whenever possible. In the event that wiring your art is not possible or will damage the piece, sawtooth, keyhole, d-rings, cleats and other types of hardware are acceptable. No loose paper unless presentation cleared with curators/installers.

    5. All pieces should be labeled on the back with: Artist’s Name, Title of the piece.

    6. Drop-off: Artwork needs to be delivered on November 9th, 2025 (2-5p) and November 10th, 2025 (4:30p-7:30p) WITHOUT EXCEPTION. Delivery accepted through Door G entrance.

    7. Pick-up: All artwork MUST be claimed/picked up at the end of the show, November 15th at 10:00pm or Monday, November 17th 4:30pm-7pm. We do not have space to store art after the show, therefore any work left behind after these two dates will be considered abandoned and done with as H&N Studios sees fit.

    • Notification of acceptance will be sent via email no later than EOD on November 6th, 2025. (If you do not receive an acceptance/rejection email, please respond to your entry confirmation email.
