The Shirley Ann Steinback-Hawthrone Scholarship (SASH) honors the legacy of a lifelong nurse and healthcare executive whose nearly 50-year career exemplified service, leadership, and a deep commitment to education. This scholarship is designed to support Georgia college students pursuing education or training in nursing who embody service, advocacy, stewardship, and humanity.
Eligibility Criteria
- Must be enrolled in a Georgia post-secondary institution pursuing a degree in Nursing at any level (diplomas not inclusive).
- Must have a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA

- $2,000 USD total
- Award is sent directly to the student via PayPal

- Essay Prompt: Describe a personal experience that shaped your desire to pursue a career in nursing.How has this experience influenced the way you approach leadership, community impact, or care for others?
- Essay Length: One-page
- Essay Format: 12-pt Arial font and single-spaced.
- Headshot with a backdrop, white wall, or outdoor background. (Blurry photos, AI photos, and selfies are not accepted.)
Round 2 Application Requirements (Deadline: 9/15/2026)
- The Give Higher Campaign Video Submission
- Video Topic: "The SASH Scholarship is based on four values: Service, Advocacy, Stewardship, and Humanity. Which one of these values resonate with you the most and why? Tell us how you demonstrate this value in your education and career."
- Video Format: Your video is recorded in landscape orientation.
Video Length: Your video is between the time length of 3 minutes minimum and 5 minutes maximum.
- Video Quality: Your video is recorded in high quality lighting and audio with no added media, including
but not limited to, pictures, videos, background music, and captions
- Student Presentation: You must present yourself in a professional manner, similar to an interview.
- Proof of Enrollment from the Office of the Registrar to prove you are enrolled in a Georgia accredited institution for the current semester.
- PayPal information to process the scholarship award in case you are selected as a scholarship recipient. We do not process our scholarship awards via cash, check, or any other payment method.
