The Higher Salon promotes social equity by providing accessible hair care to Georgians. We are a network of hair salons across the state of Georgia, and with the help of our volunteer Higher Stylists, we're able to provide accessible hair care to our Higher Clients on a monthly basis.
For our pilot in partnership with The Higher Foundation, we are only serving female K-12 students, female college students, and adult women. Our hair care services during this pilot are limited to natural hair styles and braids. We are not offering loc services, chemical services, or weave extension services at this time.
The application requirements vary by the Higher Client category. Please see the details below.
Application Requirements for pay-what-you can haircare:
- K-12 students: Proof of Enrollment in a Georgia K-12 school (not including PreK) for the current academic year.
- College Students: Proof of Enrollment in a Georgia accredited institution for the current academic year. Must be enrolled full-time and must be pursuing an associates degree or higher.
- Adult Women: Proof of Residence in the state of Georgia and a Referral Letter from a community organization on their official letterhead that states the following:
- The adult is unemployed and actively seeking employment.
- The adult is in good standing with the organization for her attendance and her discipline.
