Watermelon Eating Contest

Eligibility:

• Open to the public

• There will be a contest for two groups:

  • Ages 10-17 (participants of this age group must have a legal guardian present)

  • Ages 18 and up

Rules:

• The first contest (ages 10-17) starts at 5:00 pm on July 4th at the Harris Pavilion and the other (ages 18 & up) will be immediately after. All participants must show up 15 minutes before the first contest.
• The object is to finish half of a seedless melon in the shortest amount of time.
• Contestants must not touch any watermelon until the starting signal.
• When the whistle blows, each person will start to eat their portion of the watermelon (you may use your hands).
• There will be spotters to judge who finishes first.
• The first person to finish their entire portion will win a prize.
  • *in the event of a tie, the finalists will participate in a tie-breaker round

Deadlines:

Entry form must be submitted by 4 PM Saturday, July 3, 2021 to the Historic Downtown Manassas Visitor’s Center (9431 West Street, Manassas), faxed to HMI at 703.361.6942, or emailed to david@historicmanassasinc.org

After the deadline, contestants may register in person.

Prizes:

Ages 10-17
First prize: 1st place Award 
Second prize: 2nd place Award 
Third prize: 3rd place Award 

Ages 18 and up
First prize: 1st place Award 
Second prize: 2nd place Award 
Third prize: 3rd place Award
