ABOUT THE nijhc:

An annual event that brings together Indigenous junior hockey athletes from across the country to compete for the national title. The championships are open to male and female division players aged 16-21 (U21) and are an opportunity for players to showcase their skills and for the Indigenous hockey community to come together and celebrate their achievements.
THE GOAL

The 2nd annual National Indigenous Junior Hockey Championships is a highly anticipated week-long event dedicated to fostering the talent and passion of Indigenous Youth in Turtle Island. Scheduled for mid-July 2026, this championship brings together two dynamic divisions for male and female players aged 16 to 21. It serves as a platform for Indigenous athletes of all levels of experience to showcase their skills, forge new friendships, and embrace the rich cultural heritage of the game. With an emphasis on inclusivity and community, this tournament embodies the spirit of unity, providing a unique opportunity for young Indigenous hockey athletes to shine on a national stage while celebrating their heritage.

Team Registration and Deposits

All registered and confirmed teams must have their Team Registration form by February 27, 2026, with a $500.00 Non-refundable deposit to secure your spot. The team entry fee of $2,500.00 (Minus the $500.00 non-refundable) must be submitted to the 2026 NIJHC (Hockey Indigenous) after successful teams are chosen following the Team Registration deadline and must be paid no later than March 13, 2026. There will be no refunds, no exceptions.

Eligibility and Documentation

- All players listed are under the age of 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, and 21 as of July 20, 2026, of the competition year.

- All players meet the eligibility requirements for Indigenous ancestry and NIJHC forms.

- Supporting documentation may need to be provided upon request by the organizers.

Code of Conduct

- The team agrees to adhere to the championship’s Code of Conduct and respect the event’s values of integrity, sportsmanship, and cultural respect.

- Any violations may result in penalties, suspension, or disqualification.

- I understand this is a Team registration form and is an expression of interest to participate in the 2026 National Indigenous Junior Hockey Championships.

- I acknowledge that there will be 24 male teams and 8 female teams that will be participating in the 2026 National Indigenous Junior Hockey Championships.

- I understand the National Indigenous Junior Hockey Championships Committee will be contacting all teams registered and will be notified of success or unsuccessful to attend the 2026 NIJHC.

- I understand there will be a stand-by list and a possibility of my team being added.

- I acknowledge that once I have completed this registration form, there will be further information to be updated about the NIJHC.

- I understand no refunds will be issued under any circumstances.

- I UNDERSTAND A NON-REFUNDABLE FEE OF $500.00 IS REQUIRED TO CONFIRM REGISTRATION BY CHEQUE OR E-TRANSFER (EMT).

Liability and Risk

I acknowledge the inherent risks of participation and release the event organizers, sponsors, and officials from liability for injuries or damages, except in cases of gross negligence.
