Parenting while navigating ALS can bring emotions, questions, and changes that are difficult to carry alone. Our free monthly virtual Parent Meet-Ups welcome parents, caregivers, and people living with ALS who are raising or supporting children at any stage of the journey, including during caregiving, through changing family roles, and after the loss of a loved one.
This is a space to come exactly as you are. There is no pressure to have the right words, share more than feels comfortable, or be at a particular place in your experience. You are welcome to talk, listen, ask questions, or simply spend time with others who understand some of what you and your family may be carrying.
Together, participants can process the emotional and practical realities of ALS, connect through shared experiences, and discuss topics such as talking with children about ALS, navigating grief and uncertainty, caring for yourself while caring for others, adjusting to a life or family dynamic that looks different than expected, and finding helpful resources and support.
Facilitated by people with personal connections to ALS and caregiving, each gathering is intended to offer a warm, compassionate, and nonjudgmental environment where participants can feel less alone, relate to others, and find support for whatever they are navigating. When parents and caregivers feel supported, that care can extend throughout the entire family.
