Medium Strength classes at Illinois Art Station are intended for young artists ages 8-14 who want to strengthen their skills in specific art mediums. This new class offering from IAS can be taken in conjunction with other onsite IAS classes, including Art After 3PM (AA3) and Art Elements.

Artists will:

Center themselves in the study of one art medium
Learn of new techniques within that medium
Explore artists who create in specific mediums

Cost: $50 per participant per section (each section includes 3 class sessions). All onsite IAS classes are offered Pay-What-You-Can.

When: Tuesdays from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. beginning February 4

Section 1 (Painting) - Tuesdays: February 4 - 18, 2025

Section 2 (Printmaking) - Tuesdays: March 4 - 18, 2025

Section 3 (Ceramics) - Tuesdays: April 1 - 15, 2025

Section 4 (Bookmaking) - Tuesdays: May 6 - 20, 2025

Parents and guardians are asked to drop their children off at the start of the program and return for pick-up at 6 p.m.

Registration for Medium Strength is limited to (20) young artists per section.

NOTE: A complete registration form must be submitted for each young artist participating in Medium Strength Spring 2025.

We believe that ART is a universal language than can transcend communication barriers. Illinois Art Station can only consistently offer art education instruction in English at this present time, but we want to anticipate and meet the needs of our young artists as we can. Illinois Art Station is committed to ensuring that young artists and families from all neighborhoods and backgrounds have access to transformative experiences in the visual arts regardless of their ability to pay. To achieve this access, IAS offers a pay-what-you-can model for class registration. We know that IAS families who are able to financially support the Illinois Art Station and our programs will do so happily. We also know that our IAS families who require assistance will benefit greatly from a flexible pricing structure. Your tuition—no matter the total—will help cover the costs of expert planning/facilitation, materials, site maintenance, and everything else that makes IAS programming so great. AND, any additional funds will help sponsor the cost of hands-on art engagement for young artists and families who require reduced or free tuition. The full price of 1-4 sections of Medium Strength is $50, $100, $150, & $200 respectively.

Any payment higher than the recommended totals will be considered a donation to support current and future IAS programs. Any payment less than the recommended totals (as low as $0) will still allow for your young artist’s participation in the program. Families with an annual household income less than $36,000 or who qualify for free/reduced lunch should feel welcome to pay less than the recommended amount.
