Important Information Before You Apply
Before investing your time in completing this application, please carefully review the detailed job posting for more information regarding the Academic Coach position and the specific and minimum requirements for the disciplines and areas we are seeking.
Applicants who do not possess the required graduate degree(s) with relevant 18+ graduate-level credit hours in the specified subject areas may not be considered at this time.
The requirement of at least 18 graduate-level credit hours in a discipline comes from regional accreditation standards, such as those established by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) and the Higher Learning Commission (HLC). These accrediting bodies established minimum qualification guidelines to ensure academic quality and institutional integrity. As a result, these requirements are established standards and are not open to interpretation.
Please note that the majority of the programs and courses we support are at the graduate level and are designed for adult (25+) working professionals. These students are generally not traditional, first‑time college students. The programs are fully online, which do not require any on-campus presence and are typically accelerated, with courses lasting 5–9 weeks instead of traditional semesters.
Application Platform
It is best to complete this online application on a computer (laptop/PC), not a mobile device, smartphone or tablet.
These virtual positions do not require residence in a particular city or state, so there is no need to reapply for multiple cities or postings. Our system will allow only one application per email address, so please do not apply more than once.
This application is not an applicant‑tracking system (ATS), nor is it filtered or evaluated using AI or automated screening tools. The application itself is the first stage of our vetting process, and we review how each applicant completes it — including accuracy, completeness, attention to detail, and overall effort.
If you are already a contracted and active Academic Coach with Instructional Connections, DO NOT REAPPLY by completing this application. Instead, contact your Lead Coach.
If you are a previous Academic Coach or have been inactive for more than 18 months, you will need to reapply (complete this application) and complete all screening activities to be contracted again to be eligible for an assignment.
Here are a few tips for completing this application:
-
Complete all required fields marked with a red asterisk (*). This includes selecting a "Prefix" in the Full Name field.
-
If a required field does not apply, please enter “N/A.” This option should be used only when the information is genuinely not applicable and not as a means to bypass required sections.
-
Pay close attention to all entry and formatting instructions for each field. For example, “Date” fields may require specific formats such as Month (MM) and Year (YY or YYYY).
-
The areas you select under “Areas of Qualifications” must be supported by your conferred graduate degree(s) - Master's, Post-Master's, and Doctoral/Terminal degrees - if advanced and contracted, OFFICIAL transcripts will be required to confirm.
-
When selecting areas of qualification (max of 3), only your graduate-level education (Master’s, post-master’s, or doctoral/terminal degrees) will be considered. Applicants must have completed a minimum of 18 graduate-level credit hours in each selected area(s). Perceived qualifications or experience without the required graduate-level coursework do not meet this standard. Undergraduate coursework does not satisfy this requirement and should not be included when selecting areas of qualification.
For example, if you hold an MBA with a focus in Leadership and a Bachelor’s in Economics, your qualification would be based solely on your graduate degree. You would only be qualified in Economics if your graduate transcript shows 18 or more graduate‑level credit hours in Economics or coursework clearly and directly related to Economics. Your undergraduate degree would not qualify you to serve as an Academic Coach in Economics. For reference, if courses are typically 3–4 credit hours each, this equates to approximately 5–6 graduate‑level courses in Economics or closely aligned content.
-
Your educational background and experience must match the resume you upload. Discrepancies may result in removal from consideration.

Work Authorization
The Academic Coach position is fully virtual and does not require residence in any specific city or state. However, Instructional Connections is an exclusively U.S. based company, and all services are performed within the United States. As a result, we cannot consider or hire applicants who are not U.S. citizens or who do not hold current, valid work authorization issued by USCIS.
All applicants must have current, valid U.S. work authorization that does not now or in the future require visa sponsorship, employer documentation, or employer oversight for work eligibility from Instructional Connections. This includes, but is not limited to, non‑immigrant categories such as H‑1B, F‑1/OPT, CPT, TN, or any other status requiring employer sponsorship or compliance support. Because the Academic Coach position is an independent contractor (NEC‑1099) role, Instructional Connections cannot provide visa sponsorship, supporting documentation, supervision, or any employer‑based authorization required for certain visa types, including those sponsored by a university.
If you hold F‑1 OPT, CPT, or any other visa work authorization connected to an educational institution, please consult your Designated School Official (DSO) with questions regarding your visa status, reporting requirements, or compliance obligations. Instructional Connections cannot provide guidance, documentation, supervision, or support related to OPT or any other visa type due to the independent‑contractor nature of this position.
