                Please upload your video recording to YouTube as an unlisted video. Public and Private YouTube videos are not permitted. Refrain from wearing any identifiable clothing. 

                The title of your video should follow the following format:

                [ITG Member Number][Competition Division]

                Submissions must not be older than 6 months as of December 15, 2025.

              • Wind Band Excerpts

                The audition video must contain the First Trumpet/Solo Cornet part for the following excerpts, without accompaniment, in the following order, and in one continuous take:

                1. Ives: Variations on “America” (O to P, play both parts as one player)
                2. Shostakovich: Festive Overture, Op. 96 (13 to 7 mm. after 16)
                3. Bugle Call: Retreat
                4. Grainger: Lincolnshire Posy, mvmt. 2, “Horkstow Grange” (mm. 19 – 28)
                5. Sousa: Golden Jubilee, first two strains, no repeat
              • Orchestral Excerpts

                The audition video must contain the first trumpet part for the following excerpts in the following order, and in one continuous take:

                1. Mussorgsky/Ravel: Pictures at an Exhibition (1. Promenade, mm. 1 – 8)
                2. Stravinsky: Petroushka, 1947 version (Ballerina’s Dance, 1 m. before 134 to 139)
                3. Respighi: Pines of Rome (mvmt. 2, offstage solo)
                4. Higdon: blue cathedral (mm. 102 – 110) https://tinyurl.com/itg2601ra1
                5. Bizet: Carmen Suite No. 1 (mvmt. 1 “Prelude,” mm. 3 – 28)
                6. Handel: The Messiah, (“Trumpet Shall Sound,” mm. 1 – 28)
              • Jazz Improvisation

                The audition video must contain all pieces in the following order, with each piece recorded in a single take:

                1. Groovin’ High by Dizzy Gillespie—Play the head, improvise two choruses, and play the head out.
                2. Here’s That Rainy Day by Jimmy Van Heusen—Play the head, improvise one chorus, and play the head out.
                3. Nutville by Horace Silver—Play the head, improvise two choruses, and play the head out.

                The three separate takes should be compiled into a single video for upload.

              • Solo Performance

                The audition video must contain one composition of the student’s choice, with a duration of no longer than ten minutes and in one continuous take. The self-chosen work may be a work for trumpet and piano, an unaccompanied work, or a work with electroacoustic accompaniment.

              • Chamber Music

                The audition video should contain no more than ten minutes of music in one continuous take, with all members visible. This could be one or more pieces or a ten-minute excerpt of a longer work.

              • Youth Divisions

                Junior Division
                For students in grades 9 and under (or equivalent study) and born after May 1, 2010 (age 15 or younger on May 1).

                Any etude of the contestant’s choice. This work should not require a piano, as no piano accompaniment will be provided.


                Senior Division
                For students in grades 10—12 (or equivalent study) and born after May
                1, 2006 (age 15 to a maximum age of 19 on May 1)

                Any single etude selected from any of the following etude books:

                1. Brandt: Orchestral Etudes for Trumpet (public domain and available for free online)
                2. Charlier: 36 Etudes Transcendantes
                3. Scaruffi-Klispie: Orchestral Studies for Trumpet (20)
                4. Vannetelbosch: Twenty Melodic and Technical Studies
