The ETI Family Dinner Initiative runs annually every Fall-Winter, so Family Dinner activities and events should take place between October to December.
Examples of Activities & Events:
- Host a community dinner event.
- Plan a group/family dinner activity for program participants.
- Assemble free meal kits with the items needed for a Family Meal Guide recipe to help community members participate and make dinner with their families.
- Organize an Idaho Family Dinner contest and have community members or program participants submit family dinner photos, their popular family recipes, or their favorite family games or conversation starters.
Note: Partners that are interested in organizing a Family Dinner event or activity in their community are encouraged to integrate a recipe from the Family Dinner Meal Guide. However, If you are unable or uninterested in using any of the recipes in the Guide then you can choose your own recipe (alternative recipe options can be found at www.eattogetheridaho.org and www.thefamilydinnerproject.org). If you do not plan to utilize a recipe from the Guide it is important that, in the event/activity description below, you clarify how you plan to still integrate the Meal Guide into your activities - as the Meal Guide provides the education on, and connection between, frequent family meals and the prevention of youth substance misuse.
