What to bring to your appointment
To comply with the Law Society of Ontario’s client-identification requirements, please bring one piece of valid, government-issued photo ID, to your appointment.
Ontario Health Cards and similar provincial health cards are not accepted and should not be submitted.
Accepted forms of ID include:
Canadian or foreign passport
Canadian Permanent Resident Card
Canadian Citizenship Card (issued prior to 2012)
Canadian driver’s licence
Canadian provincial or territorial photo card (e.g., Ontario Photo Card)
Secure Certificate of Indian Status
Other federal, provincial, territorial or state government-issued photo IDs that bear your name and photo (e.g., NEXUS/Global Entry card, foreign driver’s licence).
The ID must:
Show your full legal name;
Include a clear photograph;
Be current (not expired).
