Cologne Summer School on Equality of Opportunity

The concept of the summer school is a hybrid one. Therefore, you can choose between two options:

1. Onsite:

20 students participate onsite at the University of Cologne while 10 students take part simultaneously online. The onsite group shares their cultural experiences with the online group during special time slots.

2. Online:

A group of 10 students participate part-time in all online workshops and classes while 20 students participate at the University of Cologne.

Please note that we are not able to take into account every application for the onsite option. The selected applicants will be offered either an onsite or an online spot. Thank you for your understanding.

Organizing your journey to Cologne*

I am informed that I am responsible for organizing my trip to Cologne by myself. Arrival date is July 15th and earliest departure time is August 3 in the afternoon after certificate awarding. Since the project Cologne Summer Schools turns 10 years in 2022 we would like to invite you to a weekend anniversary celebration on July 16th and July 17th. For this reason the arrival date is set on July 15th. More information on the events will be posted on our website in the coming days.

Structure of the program
You will be provided with a time table via email. Your punctual attendance in all lectures and group-work sessions is mandatory for receiving the certificate for attendance.

Important information on the video of motivation!

Instead of applying with the standard letter of motivation the candidates have to introduce themselves in a short, max 3 min, video and explain their motivation for their application (in English language). Please upload the video to a website that suits you and insert the link into the box below. If you choose a file sharing application like DropBox or WeTransfer, please make sure that the link does not expire. If you upload the video to Youtube, you can set it to "not listed". In this way, only people with the link will be able to see it and the video will not be shown in the results list even if searched with the exact same key words as in the title.

We will use the videos only for the purpose of selection and we will not hand them over to third-parties. All application data is deleted after the participants have been selected.
