In the film, 94-year-old Eleanor, a non-Jew, is grieving the loss of her best friend Bessie — a Holocaust survivor portrayed by Rita Zohar, who is herself a real-life survivor. Upon Bessie’s passing, Eleanor moves from Florida to NYC to live with her daughter.

Visiting a JCC in Manhattan for senior programming, Eleanor is mistakenly ushered into the wrong room. Instead of a senior mixer, Eleanor finds herself in a Holocaust survivors’ support circle. And rather than correct the error, Eleanor tells Bessie’s story as if it were her own. Thus begins our tale of deceit, aging, loneliness, grief, and remembrance.
