  • III. Agency Application History

  • Is your agency a current partner with JLA?*
  • If you are not a current partner, is this the first time your agency is completing an application to be a community partner of JLA?
  • If you are not a current partner, has your agency been a community partner with JLA in the past (not including Done-In-A-Day)?
  • Has your agency participated in a Done-In-A-Day project with JLA in the last three years?*
  • IV. Volunteer Placement Information & Description

  • A PLACEMENT is a role consisting of a task or group of related tasks defined by the agency that JLA members are assigned to for the placement duration (see below for placement durations). Based on our commitment to your organization, each volunteer is required to complete a minimum of 50 volunteer hours in their placement, with the exception of Project Chairs (JLA Community Partner leads) who are required to complete 40 volunteer hours. JLA recommends that organizations design their placements to make 60-70 hours available to volunteers to allow for scheduling conflicts.

    Placement durations:

We offer our members flexibility during the year to complete their placement. For each placement, please select the placement duration for when you are asking for volunteers.

    • YEAR LONG: September 1, 2027-May 15, 2028
    • SUMMER CONCENTRATED: June 1, 2027-August 31, 2027
    • FALL CONCENTRATED: September 1, 2027-December 31, 2027
    • SPRING CONCENTRATED: January 1, 2028-May 15, 2028

    Placement schedules:

Placements can be structured based on your agency's particular needs.

    • A FIXED schedule where members volunteer the same day and time each week for the duration of the placement (i.e., each Tuesday between 10 a.m. and 12 p.m.).
    • A FLEXIBLE schedule where members are able to choose when they volunteer from week to week, commonly within the agency's operating hours.
    • A TASK-ORIENTED schedule is where a member's hours are based on the completion of a particular task or project; typically, this is remote and not linked to the agency's location or operating hours.

    Prohibited Placement Activities:

In accordance with The Junior League of Austin's governing documents, JLA volunteers may not engage in political activity (influencing legislation or supporting/opposing candidates), religious activity (worship, proselytizing, religious instruction, or programs requiring religious participation), or direct donation solicitation on behalf of their placement agency (e.g. processing credit card payments at an event registration is okay). Members may serve as grant writers only when that placement was approved in the year's Project Proposal, and may not be the responsible party for grant solicitation. If you have questions about whether activities at a specific placement are allowed, please email the JLA Community Liaison at communityliaison@jlaustin.org.

  • Project Financial Request

If this project application includes a finanical request, outline your request in the questions below. Your financial request must be related to the placements for which you are requesting JLA volunteers. Financial awards are at the discretion of JLA and its Board of Directors. Awards may not exceed the amount requested. For a list of 2026-2027 community partners and grants awarded, please visit the Community Projects and Programs page on the JLA website.

Please note that an agency is eligible to receive funding for a maximum of three consecutive years. After a year without funding, an agency may again request funds and begin a new three-year cycle.

  • Are you seeking project funding as a part of your application?*
  • Are you able to proceed with a JLA partnership without the requested funding?*
  • Two-Year Partnerships

JLA may offer the option for a small number of community agencies to be considered for a two-year community partnership - JLA League Years 2027-2028 and 2028-2029. Placements will be approved for a two-year period with the opportunity to make small changes to approved placements before the second year of the agreement. Funding may or may not be the same for year one and year two. New volunteers will be placed with the agency each year.

If you would like more information on two-year partnerships, please reach out to the JLA Community Liaison at communityliaison@jlaustin.org.

  • Is your agency interested in being considered for a two-year partnership?*
  • VI. Applicant Agreement

  • If selected as a 2027-2028 community partner, the applicant agency agrees to support The Junior League of Austin's (JLA) members placed with the agency in the approved placement roles and provide sufficient opportunities for each placed member to complete at least 50 hours of volunteer time in the approved placement. The agency acknowledges that JLA may approve some, but not all, of the the placements outlined in this grant application and that the placements may be adjusted during the Researchers process--in coordination with the agency--to best meet the needs of JLA's members.

The applicant nonprofit agency understands and agrees that if JLA selects its proposal as a community partner for the 2027-2028 league year, the agency will allow a member of JLA, designated by JLA (e.g., the agency's Project Chair), to attend all board meetings. This JLA member shall not be a member of the agency's board, will not be able to vote, and shall not be required to perform any Board obligations (i.e. fundraising or committee obligations).

The nonprofit agency, at all times during the term of its project partnership with JLA, will maintain at its own cost general liability insurance with limits of at least $1,000,000 combined single limit per occurrence for death, bodily injury and/or damage to property; with The Junior League of Austin, its members, officers, directors, and employees named as additional insured.

The nonprofit agency is required to recognize JLA in publicity for the project for which JLA provides volunteers and funding or volunteers only. JLA will provide a high-resolution copy of its logo for use. The nonprofit agency shall provide JLA with a copy of all promotional materials.

The nonprofit agency agrees to spend JLA grant funds in accordance with program and financial guidelines outlined in the grant award notice and may be required to repay the grant if it violates those guidelines.

The nonprofit agency and its authorizing official acknowledge and affirm that all information provided is true and correct to the best of its knowledge; that supporting documentation will be made available to The Junior League of Austin upon reasonable request, and that the falsification of any information provided may result in denial of the application and/or a determination of ineligibility to receive grant funds in future years.

  • For any additional questions regarding your application or partnering with JLA, please email the JLA Community Liaison at communityliaison@jlaustin.org and/or the JLA Researchers Chair at researcherschair@jlaustin.org.
