II. INFORMATION & GUIDELINES
The Women's Resource Center Inc. (WRC) is a nonprofit organization. The core of our mission is to provide counseling, education, and training that leads to emotional and financial fulfillment. In addition, we offer various education, support, networking, and referral services to the community.
The purpose of the Women's Resource Center Scholarship program is to recognize, encourage, and reward aspiring students who are pursuing a higher level of education in preparation for employment, self-sufficiency, and advancement in the community.
III. ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
For all applicants:
- You identify as a female, 21 years of age or older, with a high school diploma or GED equivalent.
- You must be a year-round resident of Manatee or Sarasota County.
- You must be accepted into a qualified program. Eligibility includes vocational, two or four-year institutions pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree or certification program.
- WRC employees and their family members are not eligible for scholarships.
For applicants currently enrolled and attending school:
- You are required to include a copy of your transcript from the previous semester. You can upload your document within this 2025 WRC Scholarship Application form.
- You will be required to establish financial need. Within this form, you will be required to provide information identifying your financial need and any relevant documentation.
For applicants applying to school:
- You are required to submit an official acceptance letter from your educational institution. You can upload this document within this form, the 2025 WRC Scholarship Application form.
- You will be required to establish financial need. Within this form, you will be required to provide information identifying your financial need and any relevant documentation.
IV. APPLICATION PROCESS & REQUIREMENTS
- All applicants must submit their application and the required documentation no later than midnight on February 28th, 2025.
- The application must be filled out in its entirety and submitted with the requested documents.
- Please include your name and each document's title when uploading your additional documentation. Be sure that your acceptance letters are signed by those writing on your behalf.
- Your accurate completion of the application is required for the Scholarship Review Committee to consider the application.
V. DETERMINATION OF AWARDS
The availability of scholarship funds determines the number of scholarships awarded each year. The WRC Scholarship Committee will review all completed applications and make award recommendations. In some instances, the applicant may be asked to interview. Recipients are selected on an objective and competitive basis considering academic and non-academic factors, plus demonstrated financial need.
VI. ANNOUNCEMENT & AWARD PAYMENTS
- All awarded scholarship funds are submitted directly to the school provided in your application.
- The awarded funds shall be restricted to tuition and books only for the school year listed in the application.
- If a recipient does not attend school during the academic term for which the scholarship is intended, the award funds will be returned to the WRC and forfeited by the scholarship recipient. If it is discovered later that the money was not used as intended and was not returned as outlined, you will forfeit your right to reapply in the future.
VII. SCHOLARSHIP RENEWAL
Recipients must reapply each year for consideration of the renewal of scholarship funds. Applications will be available for submission on our website, mywrc.org/about/scholarship, from January 27, 2025, through midnight on February 28, 2025.
