This school year Kearney School District would like to be sure our students have social emotional support (SEL). Throughout the district SEL support is often done through small group therapy support.
Social-Emotional Learning Groups
Participating in Social-Emotional Learning groups is an effective way for students to strengthen skills related to their social, emotional, and behavioral needs while also learning to work in a respectful and supportive environment with peers.
We will use group-based activities to work toward skills relating to: communicating respectfully, building resilience, coping with stressful situations, learning to relax, overcoming anxiety, building self-esteem, expressing emotions honestly, expanding comfort zones, making friends and processing difficult life events.
Participation is expected, in an effort to easily and quickly create these groups when they become available, we are asking parents to complete this below permission slip for the entire school year. Parents will be aware of all groups their child is participating in prior to the start date of the group.
