The Lake Macquarie Mayor's Civic Prayer Event was established by Lake Macquarie Christian Churches and Mayor Kay Fraser on the 6 November 2019. The proceeds of the event are given to a local Lake Macquarie charity. This is a Christian Church-led initiative in partnership with the mayor’s office.
Who Can Apply?
Applications are open to any registered charity located in or specifically serving the Lake Macquarie Local Government Area (LGA). Eligible organisations must demonstrate a clear contribution to the welfare of people in the region, with a particular focus on those who are at risk, disadvantaged, or marginalised.
How Is the Beneficiary Chosen?
The selected beneficiary will be chosen by a Beneficiary Committee consisting of 6–8 members, representing council, churches, community organisations, and student leadership.
Applications close 8 October, 5pm.
CONDITIONS OF ENTRY
To be eligible to enter the charity must meet the following criteria:
1. The work of the nominated charity must be in and benefit people living in the local government area of Lake Macquarie, with a particular focus on those who are at risk, disadvantaged, or marginalised.
2. The organisation must have 'charity' or 'not for profit' status.
3. If the nominated organisation has 'Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR)' status (donations are tax deductible) they must be able to provide tax deductible donor receipts.
4. Must not have been chosen previously as the beneficiary of this event.
5. Only one submission from each organisation will be accepted. If multiple submissions are received only the first to be submitted will be considered.
If the organisation is chosen as the beneciary they must be able to provide,
- Their logo to be included in media for the event.
- A short biography and photos or video clip of the organisations work.
- A representative of the organisation to attend the event to receive the award.
