• Youth Advisory Board Application

  • Lexington Children's Theatre is excited to open applications for our second year of our Youth Advisory Board! The Youth Advisory Board will be comprised of young people involved and invested in LCT's programming and who work with us to shape the future of the organization!

The Youth Advisory Board will be comprised of up to 12-16 total members with delgates comprised of seventh through twelfth graders (for the 2025-26 school year). We will select delegates from a variety of different schools, involvement levels, and backgrounds to build the Board.

The Youth Advisory Board will meet twice a month month for a 90-minute meeting as a full group from the months of September through May. Sub-committees may meet more frequently as needed. This year we will be setting those meetings in advance in hopes to find regularity in our meeting times.

The Youth Advisory Board aims to give young people a voice in LCT’s programming. Our goal is to have the Board Members be advocates for youth like them and bring exciting ideas for change to the table. We will discuss topics such as season planning/play title selection, education, visioning, and IDEA (Inclusivity, Diversity, Equity, & Accessibility). We will strive to have youth voices in the decision-making that impacts young people and our organization. The Youth Advisory Board may also move to cover a variety of other interests as they're brought to the table by its members. Members may participate in event planning, fundraising, or other activities of interest.

A Youth Advisory Board Member may serve for no more than three consecutive years on the Board and every board member will need to re-apply each year. After a three years on the board, members must take a year off and can reapply the next year.

Returning member applicants do NOT need a letter of recommendation.

The deadline for applications and letters of recommendation to be submitted is Friday, September 12th at 11:59pm. After this time, our selection team will consider applications and our 2025-2026 Youth Advisory Board members will be announced by the end of the next week (September 19th).

  • Reference

Each applicant will need to provide one reference for us to contact if needed. If we reach out, we will ask this person why you would be a good fit for the Youth Advisory Board. This should be someone that has seen you do great work in some capacity. Even though we are not requiring them to write a letter of recommendation, it's still a good idea to ask

The reference person cannot be  a family member or a current LCT employee (previous LCT employees and folks who are not employed full-time such as choreographers and music directors are fair game). Some great examples of folks to ask would be teachers, coaches, or directors/production team members from non-LCT productions.
