What do I need to fill out a Scholarship Application?
Participants must have an updated registration form on file to be considered for scholarships. Applications will be denied otherwise.
We encourage participants to be involved in the application process. If the participant needs assistance with writing, that is allowed, and an extra sheet of paper may be added to the application.
Make sure to fill out the LMI section of your registration paperwork, this helps us calculate total scholarship dollars awarded.
How are scholarships determined?
SNR has a Scholarship Committee of community members and business professionals to determine scholarship eligibility to maintain fairness and to make unbiased decisions. Scholarship acceptance will be determined by financial need and participant’s scholarship benefits answer.
What can cause an application to be denied?
While we do not want to turn anyone away, there are things that can cause an application to be automatically denied. These things include late application submittal, unfinished application submittal or no updated registration on file.
Are there requirements to keep and maintain my scholarship?
Yes. All scholarship recipients must be in good standing with our Code of Conduct. Infractions of the Code of Conduct may result in loss of scholarship funds.
Is there a way to apply for a partial scholarship?
Yes. Applicants can choose if they would like 50%, or 100% of the allocated scholarship amount.
Do I need to fill out a different application twice a year?
Yes. SNR requires a new application to be submitted biannually.
Will I receive cash based on scholarship approval?
No, scholarship funds will be deducted as invoices are completed each month.
Am I eligible for a future scholarship if I must forfeit scholarship funds?
It depends on the circumstances, The reason for forfeiting will determine if a participant is eligible in the future. If a participant must forfeit a scholarship for things like family emergencies, or situations out of their control, they can be eligible in the future. If a participant loses their scholarship due to Code of Conduct violations, not meeting attendance requirements or not completing mandatory volunteer hours they will not be eligible in the future.
How will I know if I receive a scholarship?
We will email the participant’s payee informing them of the acceptance and what percentage of the scholarship they will be receiving within 30 days of the application window closing. Therefore, we require the payee email on the Scholarship Application.
