    MENTAL HEALTH AND WELLNESS

     

    LESSON 1: LISTEN TO YOUR GUT

    This lesson explains why mental health and wellness is important. Students will learn about the gut microbiome and understand the effect bacterium in the microbiome has on mental health and wellness.

    LESSON 2: NUTRITION FOR GUT HEALTH

    This lesson teaches the importance of fueling good gut bacteria through a variety of foods. Students will learn that the foods we eat affect the health and energy of gut bacteria and play a key role in a healthy brain.

    LESSON 3: BRAIN BOOSTING NUTRIENTS

    This lesson emphasizes the nutrients that benefit gut health, boost mental health and wellness, and affect overall energy. Students will learn about the top food sources for each key nutrient to focus on for a better mood and increased energy.

    LESSON 4: LIFESTYLE CHOICES FOR MENTAL HEALTH AND WELLNESS

    This lesson encourages lifestyle choices that are important for mental health and wellness. Students will learn the importance of daily movement, good sleep, stress management, and social connection.

    LESSON 5: MOVEMENT FOR A CLEAR MIND

    This lesson explores the connection between exercise and mental health and wellness. Students will learn the benefits of regular physical activity for improved mood, self-esteem, and brain and how to include movement into daily activities.

    LESSON 6: SLEEP HYGIENE

    This lesson highlights the connection between sleep and mental health and wellness. Students will understand why getting enough sleep is important for mental health and wellness and learn about the nutrients and habits that can improve sleep habits.

    LESSON 7: STRESS MANAGEMENT

    This lesson discusses the topic of stress. Students will learn about the different types of stress, how stress affects our physical and mental health and wellness, and ways to manage stress.

    LESSON 8: SOCIAL CONNECTION

    This lesson teaches the benefits of social connections and how relationships impact mental health and wellness. Students will learn practical tips to improve connections with others, reduce times of isolation, and create a more enjoyable life.
