ACCEL Academy and the parents of the students participating in activities, services, and programs funded by Title I, Part A of the Every Student Succeeds Act of 2015 (ESSA) (participating children), agree that this compact outlines how parents, the entire school staff, and the students will share the responsibility for improved student academic achievement and how the school and parents will build and develop a partnership that will help children achieve the State's high standards.
School Responsibilities
ACCEL Academy will:
1. Provide a high-quality curriculum and instruction in a supportive and effective learning environment that enables the participating children to meet the State's student academic achievement standards as follows:
- Provide high-quality, evidence-based instruction combined with meaningful assessments and intervention in areas of weakness, enabling the student to meet state performance standards.
- Provide an environment conducive to learning.
- Integrate special activities, when feasible, to make learning enjoyable.
- Enforce school and classroom rules fairly and consistently.
2. Hold parent-teacher conferences during which this compact will be discussed related to thendividual child's achievement.
- Each parent will be invited to attend the Open House in August.
- Conferences will be held at the request of parents, teachers, or an administrator, and the compact will be reviewed and discussed.
3. Provide parents with frequent reports on their child's progress.
- Parents will be informed of their child's progress through grade reports, including a mid-quarter progress report and quarterly report cards.
- Provide parents online access to their child's progress daily via PowerSchool.
4. Provide parents with reasonable access to staff.
- Teachers, counselors, and administrators are available by appointment (i.e., parent conferences).
- Parents may call the school at any time to schedule a conference with their teacher, counselor, or an administrator.
5. Provide parents with opportunities to participate in their child's educational journey.
- Encourage parental engagement in education through various school-sponsored workshops, opportunities to volunteer, or assistance with class events at times that are convenient to parents
6. Ensure regular two-way, meaningful communication between family members and school staff, and to the extent practicable, in a language that family members can understand.
- Personal contact through phone calls and emails in a language the family member understands.
- Parent and family engagement activities.
Parent Responsibilities
We, as parents, will support our children's learning in the following ways:
- Ensure my child attends school regularly and on time.
- Communicate and stay informed of my child's progress.
- Support school policies.
- Communicate with my child about his/her school activities every day.
- Become actively involved in my child's education.
- Support my child in their positive use of extracurricular time.
- Sign and return notices and information sent from school on time.
- Ensure my child is aware of and accesses school-wide resources, such as counseling and after-school tutoring (PALS)
- Ensure my child works to resolve conflict in an appropriate and peaceful manner utilizing school resources when necessary.
- Show respect to faculty and staff in communication at school, out of school, and on community school platforms, i.e. Facebook / Instagram.
Student Responsibilities
I, as a student, will share the responsibility to improve my academic achievement and achieve the State's high standards. Specifically, I will:
- Embrace a growth mindset believing I can and will learn.
- Participate meaningfully in class activities by asking questions and actively engaging in coursework and
- Abide by the school dress code and conduct policies.
- Attend school regularly and on time.
- Complete school assignments on time and with my best effort.
- Show respect for myself, my friends, and all adults.
- Come to school prepared with all the tools necessary for learning.
- Access school resources, such as counseling and after-school tutoring (PALS), when necessary.
- Resolve conflict in an appropriate and peaceful manner.
- Report any concerns or behaviors that could lead to disruption of the learning environment.
