    Please complete this form to register for one or both MMUF fall information sessions. First-year, Sophomore, and Junior students are encouraged to attend. Applications are open for all Sophomores and Juniors to apply.
  • Eligibility

    Current SOPHOMORES and JUNIORS* majoring in:

    Anthropology, Archaeology, Area Studies (AAS, MESAS, LALCS, etc.), Cultural and Ethnic Studies, Gender Studies, Art History, Classic, Geography and Population Studies, English, Film, Cinema, and Media Studies (theoretical focus), Musicology and Ethnomusicology, Foreign Languages and Literature, History, Linguistics, Literature Performance Studies (theoretical focus), Philosophy and Political Theory**, Religion and Theology, Sociology, Theater (performance focus), and Interdisciplinary Studies***

    *Spots are limited. Students are encouraged to apply during their sophomore year but exceptional junior applicants will still be considered for admission.

    **Political Science is not a Mellon-approved discipline of study. Students in the hard sciences, School of Medicine, School of Nursing, Business School, or Law School are encouraged to explore other programs, as MMUF is not designed to support these areas.

    ***Interdisciplinary Studies may be accepted if one or more Mellon-approved areas is employed.

  • MMUF Financial Benefits 

    1. Fellows receive $2,000 each fall and spring semester, plus a $4,500 stipend during their summer semester.
    2. Fellows are provided $800 per year in scholar development funds to support their research and professional growth. These funds may be used for travel, lodging, conference fees, technology, equipment, research assistants/participants, and more.
    3. Senior Fellows receive $1,000 for GRE preparation and materials, along with an additional $300 to cover graduate application fees.
    4. Fellows who complete the program and enroll in a PhD within 39 months of graduating with their BA are eligible for up to $10,000 in loan repayment on qualifying loans.
