At Maggio Multicultural Academy, traditional models of education are challenged as our students lead their own learning instead of merely following abstract knowledge and memorization. We teach them how to learn instead of focusing solely on what to learn. We create problem solvers and independent thinkers. Because instructors play the role of facilitator, or what we like to call “academic coach,”students can become each other's instructors through collaboration and teamwork.
Parents play a crucial role in their child’s education by providing support, guidance, and encouragement. Their responsibilities include ensuring regular and ontime school attendance, encouraging a positive attitude toward learning, and maintaining open communication with teachers and school staff. As well, for those younger learners just learning to read, it is vital that parents spend time reading with their child each day.
At home, parents should create a structured environment for homework and study, instill good habits, and reinforce the importance of discipline and perseverance. Encouraging reading, curiosity, and problem-solving skills further enhances a child’s academic growth.
Beyond academics, parents should actively participate in school activities, monitor progress, and address any learning challenges their child may face. By being engaged and supportive, parents help build a strong educational foundation that promotes lifelong learning and success.
