(the 100th day of Trump's presidency)

    The Silos at Sawyer Yards

    1502 Sawyer St., Houston 77007

  • By all accounts, the inauguration of Donald Trump was historic. Following that, his administration’s actions have been unprecedented. His supporters continue to support him, and his detractors continue to object.

Historically, when these sorts of events happen, artists respond. This is actually one of the most important roles artists have played throughout history. Already artists are applying their skills to this national debate in many ways, but there hasn’t been a coordinated, formal exhibit open to everyone.

We are seeking works that address issues related to the first 100 days of Trump’s presidency. This exhibit will allow artists to be included in a professional, juried art exhibit that will gain a lot of attention and reinforce the fact that artists’ voices must be heard. Like countless art exhibits of the past, this will not be an exhibit of easy-to-digest works.

The opening reception will be on the 100th day of Trump’s presidency – April 29. There are two sets of artist talks scheduled in addition to a typical opening reception. Additional programming is forthcoming, and your ideas are welcome.

This is a community-based project with no profit being sought. Corporate donors are being solicited and again, your ideas are welcome. Any excess money collected will be donated to the Washington Avenue Arts District.

    3) JUROR

Matt Adams is the president of the Visual Arts Alliance, an all-volunteer arts organization formed in 1981. As an avid collector of local artists, the D'Aunno-Adams collection currently has over 700 works and continues to grow. On occasion, Mr. Adams organizes art exhibits at Next Wall Gallery - a special event space located in the Montrose neighborhood of Houston. Previously, he curated many exhibits (including the first iPhone-only exhibit) for Brookfield Properties in various corporate lobbies in downtown Houston.
