    Miss Utility of Maryland/D.C. will select eight high school seniors from Maryland and Washington, D.C., to each receive a $1,008.11 single-year scholarship.

    This application will ask you to attach the following elements. We recommend having these files completed and in your possession before moving on with the application process.

    Essay: Essay must be a maximum of 500 words, typed in 12-point font, double-spaced and must respond to this prompt: Explain the importance of Miss Utility of Maryland/D.C. and how it could relate to the career path you plan to pursue in the future. Review your essay for clarity and errors before you submit it with your application. 

    High School Transcript: Transcripts do NOT need to be official. Please save it with a file name starting with your first initial and last name, e.g., JSmith_transcript.pdf.

     

    This application must be submitted by May 22, 2026 at 11:59 EDT to be considered.


    Please note, this application does NOT allow you to stop and progress where you left off. Please plan to complete the application in one session.

    If needed, high school transcripts may be submitted by mail. To submit the entire application by mail, please email atrim@mghus.com for a PDF version. Materials submitted by mail must be postmarked no later than May 22, 2026, enclosed in an envelope labeled with the applicant’s full name, school and zone, and sent to the following address:

  • THE MISS UTILITY OF MARYLAND/D.C. SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM IS GOVERNED BY THESE OFFICIAL TERMS AND CONDITIONS. BY APPLYING FOR THE MISS UTILITY OF MARYLAND/D.C. SCHOLARSHIP, EACH APPLICANT AGREES TO ABIDE BY THESE OFFICIAL RULES, INCLUDING ALL ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS AS DETERMINED BY MISS UTILITY OF MARYLAND/D.C.


    HOW TO ENTER:
    Online entry or mail. The application must be submitted online or postmarked by Friday, May 22, 2026. All entries must be typed and only submitted once. Duplicate copies of the scholarship application and supporting materials will not be considered.

    SCHOLARSHIP:
    Scholarship recipients from each of the eight zones outlined in the application form, covering Maryland and Washington, D.C., will receive a $1,008.11 single-year scholarship to a two-year or four-year college, university or technical school. Students must be on track to graduate by June 2026 to be considered for the scholarship program. Students must also be enrolled in a two-year or four-year college, university or technical school by August 2026 to receive the scholarship. Should a student not be enrolled in a two-year or four-year college, university or technical school by August 2026, Miss Utility of Maryland/D.C. has the right to revoke the scholarship. In such a case, an alternative student will be selected from all remaining scholarship program applicants.

    Scholarships will be awarded by check directly to the student’s enrolled college, university or technical school. As a result, please note that the scholarship might impact financial aid packages. Should the student’s enrollment status change after the scholarship has been awarded, Miss Utility of Maryland/D.C. cannot guarantee a transfer of funds to another school.

    SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM PERIOD:
    The Miss Utility of Maryland/D.C. Scholarship Program will run from January 2026 to May 22, 2026. Winners will be notified via telephone and/or email by July 2026.

    ELIGIBILITY:
    The Miss Utility of Maryland/D.C. Scholarship is open only to legal residents of Maryland and the District of Columbia. Applicants must submit all required information to be eligible for the scholarship program. Miss Utility of Maryland/D.C. has the right to verify the eligibility of each applicant.
