The mission of PTA is to make every child’s potential a reality by engaging and empowering families and communities to advocate for all children. Keeping this mission in mind, the Sally FitzGerald Scholarship will be awarded to students who have advocated (either for themselves, another, or a cause), show excellent communication skills in the application essay, are involved in their community through extra-curricular activities, and are academically proficient.
Information about the Scholarship

The NFC PTA is a group of local unit PTAs and PTSAs located in North Fulton County organized by the authorization of the Georgia PTA. Its purpose is to promote conferences, leadership training and coordination of efforts of the local PTAs and PTSAs in its membership. The NFC PTA is governed by its bylaws and elected officers.

The monetary award for this scholarship is provided by voluntary donations from the local units of the NFC PTA, individual members, and private donations. The dollar amount of the scholarship is determined annually based upon all donations received. Individuals, PTA/PTSA members, clubs, friends and corporations may donate directly by sending a check to, NFC PTA Treasurer, c/o The Teaching Museum North, 793 Mimosa Blvd, Roswell, GA 30075. Eligibility
- You are in the graduating class of 2023 from a high school in North Fulton County with a PTSA in good standing with Georgia PTA and NFC PTA, who is planning on enrolling in a post-secondary course of study (certification program, technical college, or university);
- You are a member of your high school PTSA; and
- You have been active in your community in extracurricular, service-oriented, and/ or citizenship activities.
Application Procedure

The application is comprised of three parts - the student portion (this form), GPA and Graduation Verification (provided by your school counselor), and PTSA Membership Verification (provided by your PTSA Membership Chair). Both of these documents can be found here.

Once you begin this application, you will NOT be able to return to modify it - please allow yourself sufficient time to complete in one sitting (the essay prompt is given below, so you can write your essay offline and then paste it into the appropriate response block). Outside of the essay, the student portion of the application should take about an hour. The student portion requires personal information, leadership positions, extra-curricular activities, work experience, and other recognitions.

Essay Prompt

Essay is limited to 500 words and is the highest weighted section of the application. You will upload your essay in another section of the application.

PTA was formed over 120 years ago with the sole purpose to advocate for children. To be an advocate is to speak or write in defense of or on behalf of a person or cause. Tell us about a time when you were an advocate – this could be at home, in school, or in the community and for yourself, another person, or an organization.

- The NFC PTA Scholarship Committee reserves the right to interview applicants before a final winner is selected.
- Winners will be notified after the application deadline and will be recognized at the NFC PTA Presidents’ & Principals’ Luncheon held in April (date and location is TBD).
- Winners will be required to sign a media release form. The funds must be used for the scholarship winner’s educational needs.
- All information provided in support of this scholarship application will be kept in strictest confidence.
