    Thank you for your interest in serving on the NSBAR Board of Directors and for offering yourself as a potential candidate in NSBAR’s formal Board Nomination Process. This is a tremendous responsibility and a commitment of service to our entire Membership.

    The Board of Directors shall be the governing body of NSBAR and shall have immediate charge and control of the affairs of NSBAR, including voting of any stock held by NSBAR in any separate corporation, and shall fill vacancies in office both for Officers and Directors for the remainder of the term by appointment, and shall authorize all expenditures of funds of NSBAR.

    We also want to make sure you are aware of the typical time commitment for the NSBAR Board of Directors.

    • Director positions are for two Fiscal Years, and will commence on October 1, 2026 and conclude on September 20, 2028.

    • Officer positions is for one Fiscal Year, and will commence on October 1, 2026 and conclude on September 30, 2027

    • Our Board typically meets monthly for approximately two and a half hours per meeting.

    • Meeting dates & times are predetermined and will be available before Installation, but are typically the fourth Thursday of the month at 9:30am.

    • Directors and Officers are expected to attend NSBAR’s Annual September Installation Ceremony.

    • Directors and Officers are also expected (within reason) to attend NSBAR events. Click the 2026 Event Calendar link here to give you an idea of what the 2027 Event Calendar will look like.

    • Officers are also expected to attend the IR and NAR events, which likewise is listed on the 2026 Event Calendar here. Directors are strongly encouraged to attend the IR events listed.

    PLEASE NOTE: You must be in good standing with NSBAR to hold elective office. Please see the following excerpt from our Bylaws.

    REALTOR® Members, whether primary or secondary, in good standing whose financial obligations to the Board are paid in full shall be entitled to vote and to hold elective office in the Board; may use the terms REALTOR® and REALTORS®, which use shall be subject to the provisions of Article VIII; and have the primary responsibility to safeguard and promote the standards, interests, and welfare of the Board and the real estate profession.

    Application will not be considered for a position on the Board of Directors if found in violation of Code of Ethics by a hearing panel in the last 24 months. Or, issued and paid 3 or more Ethics Citations in the last 12 months.

    Information will be verified with the North Shore-Barrington Association and Illinois REALTORS® Professional Standards administrators.
