Conference Information - NWMUN-Seattle 2025
Northwest Model United Nations – Seattle 2025 will be the 19th year of NWMUN-Seattle. Since it was first held in November 2007, NWMUN-Seattle has grown in scope and quality each year. Today, NWMUN-Seattle is the premier collegiate Model United Nations experience in the Pacific Northwest, and also the largest – a forum that cultivates international awareness and understanding, and provides diverse opportunities for educational and cultural enrichment, as well as for personal growth.

Conference Information - NWMUN-Portland 2026
Northwest Model United Nations – Portland 2026 will be the 12th year of NWMUN-Portland. First held in February 2015, NWMUN-Portland is the most innovative conference in the Northwest. NWMUN-Portland provides diverse opportunities for educational and cultural enrichment, as well as for personal growth.

Questions - Director-General and Chief of Staff
The Director-General & Chief of Staff are responsible for the training of all of the substantive staff. What are some specific areas of knowledge that Committee Directors should have, and are there any specific ways you would ensure they gain that knowledge? What are some specific areas of knowledge that Committee Assistant Directors should have, and are there any specific ways you would ensure they gain that knowledge?*
How do you view your role as an editor? What purpose does the Background Guide editing process serve?*
The Director-General and Chief of Staff positions require a high level of organization and strong communication skills. Please describe some ideas you have for organizing information and maintaining communication with the staff over the course of the year. How would you ensure that staff members receive the information they need?*

Questions - Assistant Secretary-General for Logistics
The ASG for Logistics is responsible for coordinating the social event on Saturday night. What do you think has worked or not worked with relation to past social events? How would you want to change the event, to ensure that this event meets the needs and desires of our participants and of our budget? How would you go about developing your ideas over the course of the months prior to the conference itself?*
The ASG for Logistics is responsible for finding speakers for Opening and Closing Ceremonies. How would you improve upon the current speakers program? Where would you look to find speakers? What sort of speakers do you think the conference needs to realistically pursue in order to maximize the quality of our speakers program at this year’s conference?*
The ASG for Logistics is responsible for the Opportunity Fair, which brings various organizations and institutions to the conference to give information to delegates on their work and opportunities for student involvement in this work. The Opportunity Fair links our simulation to real-world work and study; it is also a part of our overall financial strategy for the conference. How would you continue to grow the Opportunity Fair? What sort of organizations would you invite? What is your overall messaging strategy for the Fair (and Program Advertisements, which usually has shared outreach with the Opportunity Fair)?*
We are currently in the process of implementing new timelines for the ASG-L position's goals. For Seattle, this would involve confirming speakers by September 1, and achieving our sales goals for the Opportunity Fair and Program Advertisements by October 1. For Portland, these deadlines would be December 1 and January 1 respectively. These timelines are earlier than previous timelines, and achieving our goals earlier will allow us to implement new external relations projects (such as the Featured Food Cart Lunch we've had some years at NWMUN-Portland). How would you implement an outreach strategy to achieve this earlier timeline?*
At conference, the ASG-L also assists with documentation, primarily through the supervision of the Reporting and Documentation Manager (RDM) position. The NWMUN photographer, and to a lesser degree the Director-General and the Executive Director, also are involved in this process. What aspects of the documentation of the conference could we improve? How would you ensure the RDM fits into an improved documentation process?

Questions - Assistant Secretary-General for Conference Services
The ASG for Conference Services oversees the Administrative Staff at NWMUN-Seattle. What is your management philosophy? Given that the team is not substantive, how would you go about recruiting for these positions? What sort of people would you look to fill the positions with? Please go into as much detail as you think is necessary to explain your approach to filling the Administrative Staff if selected as ASG-CS.*

The ASG for Conference Services oversees all NWMUN merchandise. Merchandise offers a way for participants and staff to extend being a part of the NWMUN community beyond the conference, through a physical memory of their time at the conference. It is also a major part of the NWMUN financial strategy, including helping to fund scholarships for individuals and teams that would otherwise be less able to attend. What is your strategy for NWMUN merchandise?*
