NYS Youth Justice Peer Advisory Council
The NYS Youth Justice Peer Advisory Council advises state and local youth justice leaders on youth policies and practices, system reform, and ways they can support all of New York’s youth toward success. The PAC’s membership prioritizes youth with experience in juvenile justice and/or runaway and homeless youth services, youth of color, and LGBTQIA+ youth, and seeks representation from all of New York’s regions.

Applications accepted on a rolling basis.
PAC members receive the following benefits:
- Monetary compensation for their work on behalf of the council
- Networking and mentorship opportunities
- Professional skill-building
- Building long-lasting relationships
PAC members must meet the following eligibility requirements:
- Age 18 to 25
- NYS residency
- Current or past involvement in juvenile justice or runaway and homeless youth services
- Strong problem-solving and collaboration skills
- Passion for justice reform
PAC members must commit to the following:
- Attend monthly virtual PAC meetings
- Commit to council membership for 1 to 2 years
- Complete tasks related to helping better serve systems-involved youth
- Seek out, listen to, and respect others’ opinions, experiences, and confidentiality
- Advocate for yourself and others
