Nifty Nanny Camp Coach Application Packet

Summer Camp 2023

June 5 - August 18

A total of 8 coaches will be selected. All who apply will be notified of their selection status by May 1st, 2023 (or earlier).

Coaches must arrive early for training, which begins Tuesday, May 30th at 9am. (More information will be provided to those selected.)

Instructions: If you are interested in a position as a Camp Coach, please: 

1. Complete this application neatly and thuroughly.
2. Include with this application:
   1. One letter of recommendation from an unrelated adult (include where they know you).
   2. A current photo of yourself.
   3. A resume (not require, but strongly preferred)
   4. Copies of any special certifications you currently hold (first aid, cpr, water safety, lifeguard training, etc.).
3. Submit all of these by Tuesday, April 11th, 2023

Summer Camp Job & Activity Descriptions

Head Coaches must be at least 18 years old and have previous camp experience. Must be willing and able to pass a comprehensive background check. Head Coaches will provide extra support as needed to other coaches and staff and assist with additional camp operations as time permits.

Assistant Coaches must be at least 16 years old (or previously attened a Nifty Nanny Summer Camp).

All Coaches must be physically able to walk or ride a bike with a backpack on. All activities during camp will require coaches to be physically present, actively engaged and mobile in order to ensure camper safety.

KEY COMPETENCIES

• Knowledge of basic bike mechanics or willingness to learn
• Plan and pack accordingly for daily bike or hiking field trips
• Lead daily bike or hike field trips
• Plan, prepare and implement outdoor games/activities
• Administer first aid/cpr when needed
• Work in partnership with fellow staff
• Communicate with parents
• Track student attendance
• Complete midday sunscreen applications
• Follow field trip assignments and improvise when needed
• Ability to make decisions on the behalf of the safety of the group for weather conditions, environmental concerns or behavior incidents.

Job Commitment: We are seeking Coaches who can commit 5 or more weeks throughout our Summer Camp. The job commitment is 11 weeks total with no camp the week of July 3-7, 2023.

• Monday - Friday
• 8:45am - 2:15pm

Biking Camp & Hiking Camp: We are an outdoor, adventure camp in Durango, Colorado. We offer small group sizes to ensure camper and coach happiness. Both Camps offer two age groups and will be staffed with two coaches.

• Biking Camp 5-7 yrs old: 8 campers & 2 coaches
• Biking Camp 8-10 yrs old: 8 campers & 2 coaches
• Hiking Camp 5-7 yrs old: 8 campers & 2 coaches
• Hiking Camp 8-10 yrs old: 8 campers & 2 coaches
