  • 2021-2022 OCCS Scholarship Application

  • The Ohio Council of Community Schools (OCCS) is proud to offer this Scholarship to high school seniors who aspire to continue their education after high school. Scholarships may be awarded for any 4-year college or university (University of Toledo, etc.), 2-year college (Owens Community College, etc.), or trade college leading to a certification (Hamrick Truck Driving School, etc.). If awarded, this scholarship will be available for renewal upon completing a re-application in future years.

    There are five parts within the application: Personal and Demographic Information, Education, Short Answer, Essay Submission, and Required Documents Submission.

    IMPORTANT: You may "Save and Return Later" at any step in the process and your work will be saved up until that point. 

  • Required Documents

    You will need to upload the following items in order to submit the application.
  • 1. Essay Directions: Please select one of the three prompt options, then complete and attach a five-paragraph essay no longer than two pages.

    Option 1: What impact would this scholarship have on your education? Tell us about your goals. 

    Option 2: What book, teacher, or class has changed the way you think about the future? How?

    Option 3: Describe a meaningful school experience or class experience that you've had.

    2. "Student Aid Report" from the 2020-2021 FAFSA

    3. Any document showing proof that the candidate attended an OCCS-affiliated community school

    4. An official or unofficial transcript indicating the candidate's cumulative grade point average

    5. Standardized admissions test results (ACT or SAT), if applying for a 4-year school

    Screenshots of the documents are permitted.

    If one document satisfies more than one of the requirements (example: a document has your GPA and your OCCS-affiliated school listed), the one document is sufficient.
