What if I need to euthanize my pet?
Owner requested euthanasia services are available without an appointment. This service is provided at any point that Animal Services is open on a walk-in basis for $40 per pet for Orange County residents.
What if my pet was adopted from Orange County Animal Services?
Pets being returned from unsuccessful adoptions do not require an appointment, as long as it is within 30 days of the animal’s departure date from the shelter. Past that timeframe, the animal will need to be surrendered to the shelter with an appointment. Adopters outside of Orange County will need to pursue surrender services through shelters in their county of residence.
How much does it cost to surrender a pet?
There is a fee of $40 to surrender a pet to Orange County Animal Services. Payment can be made via cash or card. No online or digital payments accepted at this time.
Are there additional requirements to surrender my pet?
Orange County Animal Services does not accept pets from outside our jurisdiction. Proof of Orange County residency and photo ID is required for any surrender appointments. This may be a state issued license with your address or a photo passport and utility bill with in county address.
