  • The Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. - Pi Gamma Sigma Alumni Chapter awards academic scholarships to high school seniors in Chester and Montgomery Counties who plan to attend a four-year College/University on a full-time basis in the Fall of 2026.

    Eligibility Factors and Limitations:

    • Applicant must be a graduating male senior who will be attending a four-year accredited College/University at the beginning of Fall 2026.
    • Applicant will be graduating high school in 2026 with a minimum 3.0 GPA, based on a 4.0 scale (please provide the most recent report card or unofficial transcript as evidence of current GPA).
    • Applicant must be a resident of or attend High School in Chester or Montgomery County.


    Method of Selecting Awardee:

    The Scholarship Committee will review applications, and decisions will be based on Academic Merit and Written Essay. Scholarship winners and their high schools will be notified by email.

    Award Payments:

    Payments will be issued within 30 days after the recipient is awarded their scholarship. Forfeiture of the scholarship award will occur if pertinent information is not submitted by March 31, 2026. Scholarship checks will be sent directly to the recipient (at the address provided on the application).     Criteria:

    The application must be completed and submitted with all required documentation. Incomplete applications will not be considered.

    Written Essay*:

    • Written essay must be typed in 12-point Times New Roman font, double-spaced, with 1" margins, containing a minimum of 500 words. The essay will be rated on content, depth, grammar, organization, and originality.

    * The essay must also be accompanied by the applicant's photo (preferably a graduation headshot).

    Applicant's essay must cover one of the following topics:

    o Why are you interested in furthering your education?
    o How will you help your community upon graduating from college?


    The deadline for the scholarship application is 11:59 pm on March 31, 2026.
