    An Earned College Program
  • This form must be completed by November 30 of your sophomore year.

    The Panola Promise Program will support students’ success in completing a certificate, degree, or transferring to a four-year university. The program covers the tuition and fees for every eligible Panola and Shelby County high school graduate for up to three consecutive years immediately following graduation.

    The program provides a scholarship that is a last-pay scholarship only covering tuition and fees not already covered by institutional scholarships or federal and state grants. Any federal, state, or institutional awards or scholarships granted to the student will be applied to the tuition and fees first. The Panola College Promise will be the final resource applied for in-district tuition and fees at Panola College.* 

    Scholarship Requirements:

    • Must complete a Panola Promise Program pledge form by November 30 of your sophomore year in high school.
    • Must be a Texas resident who resides in the Panola or Shelby County taxing district during enrollment in the Promise Program.
    • Must have a high school GPA of 2.0 or higher.
    • Must complete 25 volunteer service hours and provide documentation of completion annually by May 15 each year while the student is enrolled in high school.
    • Must submit a FAFSA and Panola College’s general and endowed scholarship application each spring before attending the fall semester.
    • Must have graduated from high school in the fall or spring prior to enrolling at Panola College.
    • Must start semester credit hour classes in the first 16-week semester after high school graduation.
    • Must enroll in at least 15 semester hours the first semester and 9 hours each following semester, or be enrolled in a Workforce program.
    • Must be willing to attend an in person academic advising session at least once per semester while attending Panola College.
    • Must maintain a GPA of 2.0 or higher at Panola College.
    • Must enroll in the Learning Framework course and a math course (if required for the degree program) in the first fall semester.

     

    The Program will cover up to 66-course hours or six consecutive 16-week terms, whichever happens first.

    Students that do not complete the required course(s) in their first fall semester will be ineligible for additional scholarships.

    *It is not a requirement to receive federal, state, or other institutional awards to receive the Panola College Promise. Textbooks and supplies are not covered under this program.

    Completion of this form is NOT an obligation to attend Panola College.

  • To confirm Panola or Shelby County residency and sophomore status, home school students are required to upload a copy of a utility bill showing their Panola or Shelby County address and a copy of the student's transcript showing their sophomore status.

    I am willing to comply with the Promise Program requirements and understand that if I do not fulfill them, I will be disqualified from the Promise Program.

    I also understand and agree that my school district, with my parent/guardian's consent, will release my name, contact information, demographic information, and Promise Program eligibility information (including, without limitation, GPA, attendance, disciplinary actions, graduation records, testing information and community service hours) to Panola College for the purpose of tracking my progress as a participant in the Promise Program.

    I agree to reaffirm my commitment to participate in the Promise Program and comply with its requirements at the beginning of each year that I continue to participate in the Promise Program.

    I understand that signing this Pledge Form is not a commitment to attend Panola College but rather an opportunity to earn the Panola College Promise Scholarship, as needed.

  • PARENT(S)/LEGAL GUARDIAN(S): I represent and warrant that I am the student's parent or legal guardian. I have read and understand the requirements of the Promise Program as summarized in this Pledge Form and detailed on the Panola College website at www.panola.edu/promise. I understand that my student must comply with the Promise Program requirements and that if he or she does not fulfill them, he or she will be disqualified from the Promise Program.

    I authorize my student to reaffirm his or her commitment to participate in the Promise Program and comply with its requirements at the beginning of each year that my student continues participating in the Promise Program.

    I/We also authorize and give my consent to the school district to release my/our student's name, contact information, demographic information, and student record information related to Promise Program eligibility and participation (including, without limitation, GPA, attendance, disciplinary action, graduation records, testing information and community service hours) to Panola College for the purpose of tracking my/o student's progress in the Promise Program. I authorize the school district's release of said information to Panola College for each year that my student continues to participate in the Promise Program and understand that I have the right to revoke this authorization in writing.
