2026-2027 Pennsylvania FFA Foundation Learning by Doing Grant Application

The Pennsylvania FFA Foundation’s Learning By Doing Grant program provides funding to FFA members, FFA chapters and agricultural educators to create, expand or enhance hands-on agricultural education and learning experiences. Applicants may request funding to start, improve or expand an eligible project. Applications are reviewed by a judging committee using an anonymous review process. To support a fair review, applicants must not include their name, FFA chapter name, school name, school district or other identifying information in the project proposal. Project proposals containing identifying information may be disqualified.

SECTION 2: ADVISOR AUTHORIZATION
FFA members and local FFA chapters must receive approval from their FFA advisor before submitting a Learning By Doing Grant application.

IMPORTANT: Agriculture educators/FFA advisors applying on their own behalf do not need to complete an Advisor Approval Form.

FFA members and local FFA chapters should download the Advisor Approval Form below, obtain the required signature and upload the completed form with their application.

Applications requiring advisor approval will not be considered complete and be disqualified without the signed form.

SECTION 3: PA FFA FOUNDATION INVOLVEMENT

SECTION 4: PROJECT PROPOSAL INSTRUCTIONS
Project Proposal

Prepare a 1–2 page project proposal requesting support from the Pennsylvania FFA Foundation.

Your proposal should clearly describe and illustrate your proposed project and demonstrate how it will provide or expand meaningful hands-on learning opportunities in agricultural education.

Applicants are encouraged to be creative. Your proposal may be designed as a marketing-style flyer, visual project proposal or brief business plan.
Require Proposal Content

Your project proposal must include:
1. Project Title: Give your project a clear and descriptive title.
2. Project Description: Describe what you plan to do, who will benefit from the project and what you hope to accomplish.
3. Hands-On Learning Impact: Explain the hands-on skills, knowledge or experiences this project will provide and how it will improve the agricultural education experience.
4. Impact of Grant Funding: Explain how Learning By Doing Grant funding will help start, improve or expand your project.
5. Measurement of Success: Explain how you will determine whether the project is successful and what outcomes you hope to achieve.
6. Long-Term Benefits: Describe how the learning opportunities or benefits of the project will continue beyond the grant period and how the project may be sustained in the future.
7. Pictures and Graphics: Include relevant photos, graphics, diagrams or other visuals that help illustrate your project.
8. Itemized Budget: Provide a list of planned purchases and their estimated costs.

FFA Member projects, Local FFA Chapter projects, and Agriculture Educator/FFA Advisor projects may request up to $1,000.

Please request only the amount needed to support the project described in your application.
Amount of Funding Requested
Enter the amount you are requesting from the Pennsylvania FFA Foundation.
Total Project Cost
Enter the estimated total cost of the entire project, including expenses that may be funded by sources other than this grant.
If the total project cost exceeds the amount requested from the Learning By Doing Grant, explain how the remaining project costs will be funded. Examples may include personal funds, chapter funds, school funds, donations, sponsorships, other grants or other funding sources. If the grant request will cover the full project cost, enter “N/A.”

SECTION 6: FINAL REVIEW AND CERTIFICATION
Final Review and Certification

Before submitting your application, please review your responses and uploaded documents for accuracy and completeness.

Incomplete applications or applications that do not meet the Learning By Doing Grant requirements may not be considered for funding.

ELIGIBILITY REMINDER: Applicants who received a Learning By Doing Grant during the previous grant cycle must have submitted all required grant reporting to be eligible for consideration.
