“We are establishing the La Cerva Scholarship Fund because we believe that education in Catholic schools provides the greatest opportunity for quality academic education and the development of personal values vital to a civilized society.” - Ella Sue and Salvatore La Cerva in correspondence to Bishop Leo O’Neil, February 1993
The purpose of the La Cerva Scholarship Fund is to provide and enhance the opportunity for students to attend diocesan and parochial Catholic schools in the state of New Hampshire. Individuals hoping to attain a scholarship to attend a private Catholic school are not eligible. Scholarships are awarded for students entering grades 6-12 without discrimination on the basis of race, color, sex, religion, or national origin. This scholarship fund may cover up to 75% (maximum) of a yearly Catholic school tuition.
Applicants must demonstrate financial need and meet the following criteria:
- Consistent high academic performance
- Values consistent with the standards of the Catholic school system
- High motivation
- Evidence of financial need
Students already in the program must reapply each year for scholarship renewal and must continue to meet the criteria established or will be dropped from this financial aid program. Priority will be given to those students attending regional schools for grades 6-12.
