Serving children who have spent time in foster care in
Cowlitz & Wahkiakum counties in Washington

UPDATE 6/17/21: We are accepting applications from campers outside of Cowlitz & Wahkiakum this summer, as we have a few spots left available.
The mission of For The Children | Royal Family KIDS is to create life-changing moments for children of abuse and neglect. We are dedicated to breaking the cycle of abuse and healing the scars of the past for children in foster care in Cowlitz and Wahkiakum counties. Each moment we spend with these children is an opportunity to plant the seeds of hope, happiness and wholeness that will transform them into resilient adults that have the ability to overcome challenges and be successful and healthy members of our community.
Activities are purposefully designed to be non-competitive and non-threatening while allowing children to experience success.
God’s love is modeled consistently, through the games, sports, activity centers, Bible stories, drama and quiet times the campers share with their counselors.
View our Camp Brochure for more information about our week at camp.
We will have a 1-day in-town day camp in
the Longview/Kelso area on
Saturday, July 24, 2021.
Campers and volunteers will eat breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks together.
Application Deadline: Wednesday, June 16, 2021 at midnight PT
If this application is still live, we are still accepting applications.
IMPORTANT - MUST READ:
We have been given permission by our local Department of Children, Youth & Families office to hold a 1-day in-town day camp this summer, provided that we follow the current CDC guidelines. As of 6/1/21, these guidelines state that anyone not fully vaccinated, regardless of age, must continue to wear a mask and stay 6' apart from others who don't live with you.
One mantra we have at camp is, "Camp is for the KIDS!" Since our campers will be required to wear masks, and because we have no desire to create division amongst our adult volunteers, our leadership has decided that everyone attending day camp will be required to wear a mask, regardless of vaccination status, age, etc. Unfortunately, no exceptions or exemptions will be made this year.
The mask and vaccine debates have caused enough division and strife within our communities, churches, and nation. We at For The Children | Royal Family KIDS - Cowlitz County have no desire to be another area of discord, disharmony and perpetuating an "other" view of our neighbors. We strive to be as inclusive, accepting, loving and non-judging as possible.
This application could take up to 60 minutes.
You can save your progress at any time by clicking "Save" at the bottom of the page. A window will popup with an option in small print at the bottom to "Skip create an account." After clicking that, you will enter the email address you want the application to be sent to on the next screen. Double-check that you enter that email address correctly! We are, unfortunately, unable to provide you access to applications that are in progress. We suggest you do not close the in-progress application until you confirm you received the email providing you a link to resume your application.
Jotform appears to error if you use the same email address when saving multiple applications. If you are applying for more than one camper, we suggest using a separate email address for each application (just for this step) .
You will receive an automated email confirmation after submitting your completed application. If you do not receive an email, your application was not submitted.
If you'd like to preview the entire application,
. All applications must be submitted through this webpage. Printed applications will not be accepted.
Applications are due by Wednesday, June 16. If this application is still live after that date, that means we are still accepting applications.
It is not (initially) on a first-come, first-served basis. We wait until after the application deadline to review the applications and ascertain which campers would best benefit from camp.
First priority does go to returning campers. We do recruit and fundraise in order to increase the number of campers we take each year.
There is no fee to the state or family.
All campers must be between the ages of 7-11 the week of camp.
Camp is: Saturday, July 24. Check-in is between 7:30AM and 8AM. We will provider campers breakfast, lunch and dinner. Check-out begins at 7:30PM. Further instructions will be provided when you receive your confirmation that we still have room for your camper.
We will be staying in town for 2021. For the safety of the children placed in our care, the location of camp is kept confidential. DCYF will be notified of the location a few weeks before camp. Caregivers and DCYF will be given emergency contact numbers to be able to reach camp staff at any time.
This is an application to request your foster child attend camp. After your application is received, you will be notified by July 7 regarding the status of your application. (It is most helpful if you could contact us if your child is no longer able to attend.) We don't want to disappoint any children. If you tell your child about camp, please be clear that you're applying on their behalf (not registering them). Your child is not guaranteed a spot at camp until you receive an email from us, stating your application was approved.
Due to the nature of foster care, we will create a waitlist in the case that accepted campers are not able to attend camp in July.
One application must be submitted for each child.
You will need to upload a photo or scanned copy of the child's: insurance card and a headshot of this child to complete the application.
Children in Relative Care (with or without having had an open DCYF case) are eligible for camp and are welcome to apply.
If you experience technical difficulties, first try opening this webpage in a different browser. Internet Explorer has given some people problems. If you continue to experience problems, it may be the internet network you're using.
For multiple-choice questions where "Other" is the last choice listed, if you get the error message "An option must be selected" after you already have made a selection, simply click in the blank "Other" field and then press the "Tab" button to advance to the next field. That should avoid any future error messages for that specific field.
