SCHOOL, SPECIAL, AND ACADEMIC LIBRARIES - YOUR RESPONSE IS REQUIRED BY COB Wednesday, 9 SEPTEMBER!

Each year, RSA provides to RAILS data about each School, Special. and Academic Member's collection budget for the previous school year, defined as 1 July 2025 - 30 June 2026. This data, along with your student or user FTE count pulled from state data, are used in the formulas for the annual RAILS - RSA support grant.

Libraries who do not respond are excluded from the grant calculations and lower the annual support grant amount. Failure to respond will result in higher RSA Membership Fees for those libraries who failed to provide the required collection budget information to make up for the missing grant funds.

Please provide your collection budget, as defined later in this form, ASAP.

2025/26 School Year Collection Budget

For the time frame of 1 July 2025 - 30 June 2026.
For all the buildings you have automated in Workflows, please your collection budget for the previous school or academic year.

If your district has multiple libraries automated by RSA, please provide the combined collection budget for all these branches.

Your Collection Budget is defined as:
- All operating expenditures for print, electronic, and other materials, including: books, current serial/magazine subscriptions, print and digital government documents, any other print acquisitions, ebooks, audio and video downloadables, e-serials including journals, databases, microform, CDs, DVDs, video games, maps, and materials in new and other formats.
Please do your best to accurately estimate your total spending for this school year based on the above description.

Your collection budget DOES NOT include:
- RSA membership fees, your staffing costs, library maintenance expenses, computer costs, any textbooks you buy on behalf of the school or any other non-reading material items not outlined above. The price of eRead IL, which RSA pays on your behalf, is also not included in your collection budget. Also exclude donations and book-club fair earnings as these amounts aren’t budgeted or guaranteed.
For example, if you spend $300 on Books and $500 on databases, your collection budget is $800. Your ENTIRE library budget is likely higher, but for the purposes of this grant, we care only about what you spend on things your patrons or students read, listen to, watch, or use for research.
