October 2025: Washington Resident Medgene Vaccine 1-Dose Booster

Costs: Bunnies who do not yet have a unique identifier (microchip, tattoo) will receive a mini-microchip.

Vaccine Booster Cost: $45 per rabbit
Microchip Cost: $15 per rabbit 
Nail Trim Add-On: $10 per rabbit

Key Information:

This is not a drive-thru clinic. You will need to exit your vehicle and bring your rabbit to our volunteers inside of the warehouse.

Rabbits need to be vaccinated every 9-12 months to protect against Rabbit Hemorrhagic Disease Virus Type 2 (RHDV2) according to all presently-available research.

This event is for WASHINGTON residents only.

This form is for the 1-shot booster injection of the Medgene RHDV2 vaccine.  Rabbits must have previously completed a Medgene 2-Dose protocol to be eligible. If your rabbit has not had the 2-dose protocol, please use the form to sign up for the 2-dose series.

If your rabbit is not microchipped, microchipping will be required part of the vaccination process. You will receive information on how to register your unique mini-microchip and chip registration is free. If your rabbit is already microchipped but you do not know the number, there will be universal chip readers available at the event to check. Please do your best to keep record of this information.

Rabbit Advocates RHDV2 vaccine events are designed for healthy rabbits at least 7 weeks of age or older who are not pregnant and not nursing. Please do not bring sick, pregnant, and/or infant rabbits to the clinic. Rabbits who are unwell or otherwise ineligible will be turned away for the safety of all participants. 

All rabbits must arrive at the vaccine event in pet carriers. Cardboard boxes, wire cages, baskets, plastic tubs, etc. make it difficult for volunteers to remove the rabbit for microchip scanning and vaccination.

WAIVER FOR RABBIT HEMORRHAGIC DISEASE (RHD) VACCINATION

I have elected to have my rabbit(s) administered the Medgene Labs RHDV-2 vaccine to protect against Rabbit Hemorrhagic Disease Virus Serotype 2 (RHDV2) and a microchip, if one is not present in the rabbit.

I understand the following:

1. Medgene Labs has received conditional use authorization from the USDA (United States Department of Agriculture).

2. This vaccine does not guarantee full protection against the disease, rabbit hemorrhagic disease.

3. For best efficacy, it is recommended that rabbits over 1 month of age receive the vaccine and then are given a booster vaccine in 3 weeks and every 12 months after.

4. The Medgene vaccine should be fully protective in 14 days after the booster or second dose is administered.

5. Side effects have been documented in rabbits given the vaccine, including but not limited to: lethargy, fever, digestive upset, nodule or swelling at the vaccination site, and in very rare cases anaphylactic reaction, and death. If my rabbit develops any side effects from the Medgene Labs RHDV-2 vaccine or the vaccination procedure, I do not hold Dr. Valerie Price - Veterinarian and her staff or Rabbit Advocates responsible. As the owner of this rabbit, I will assume full responsibility for any treatment costs associated with said side effects.

6. I acknowledge that there may be other, unknown risks and that the long-term effects and risks of this vaccine are not known at this time.

7. The effects of this vaccine on fertility have not been determined and the risk of abortion in pregnant does is undetermined at this time.

8. There is currently no medical data on the interaction of this vaccine with other medical products.

9. I understand my rabbit(s) must have unique identification in the form of a microchip or tattoo to receive the vaccine series at this event. This event will provide the mini-microchip option at an additional cost for rabbits that do not already have a microchip or unique tattoo.

10. I understand that no guarantee or warranty has been made regarding the results that may be achieved. I, the undersigned owner (or agent of the owner) of the pet rabbit identified above, certify that I am eighteen years of age or over and that I authorize the Veterinarian and their trained staff to administer the Medgene Labs RHDV-2 vaccine and for a microchip to be installed if needed. I have read and fully understand the terms and conditions set forth above.

*Rabbit Advocates foster rabbits are pre-approved by the Rabbit Advocates Medical Coordinator.
