    Hispanic Business Professional Association (HPA) is recruiting qualified individuals to fill open Board of Directors positions. Thank you so much for your interest in board services. We know that there are many options in our community for volunteer services and we are humbled knowing that you are interested in our organization. The following application offers us an opportunity to know more about you, your skills, attributes and what you would bring to our board. It also gives you a sense of what matters to us as an organization.
  • HBPA is a working board that does both governance and hands-on, day-to-day tasks.

    New Board members are required to participate in Orientation that will be scheduled immediately after elected. All Board members are required to meet quarterly-person or virtual- on the 3rd Thursday (before or after the network sabes que meeting). Board members are required to one annual face-to-face board retreat in conjection with our sister organization, Nuestras Raices. Board members are expected to be timely and present at every meeting with a maximum of two consecutive absences from board meetings. Quarterly board meetings are 1 hour in time length and board retreats are typically held on a weekend day for 3-4 hours. Board members will guide and support committees lead by HBPA paid members.

  • BOARD POSITIONS

    1. Board President- leads the organization's Board of Directors, overseeing governance, setting agendas, facilitating meetings, and working with the Executive Director/Liaison to ensure the organization meets its mission, and involvement with sister organization Nuestras Raices 501c3. 

    • The President shall preside at the general membership meeting of the Association.
    • The President shall mail out the bi-annual newsletter.
    • The President shall monitor maintenance of the website.
    • The President may require the Board of Directors and Committee Chairpersons to make regular or special reports at such time as the President may prescribe.
    • The President will lead a committee to establish, amend, or update board policies, financial procedure policies, and the code of conduct for HBPA board directors and members.
    • The order of succession in the event of resignation or inability to fulfill the office shall be the Vice President, Board Director, Secretary, and Treasurer.

    2.Board Vice President- Assists the President, stands in for them when absent, and often serves as the Chair-Elect or Vice Chair, preparing to lead the board. the Vice President must assume the duties of the President.

    • The Vice President shall reach out to new members, welcoming them to HBPA.
    • The Vice President shall approve and oversee the committees.
    • The Vice President shall assist the President with the website.
    • If there is no Vice President, their duties will be divided among the existing board members. 
  • The term of an officer of the Association shall bea term of three years. The officer can run and, if elected by the membership,can serve a second 3-year term. The second term can be consecutive or with agap year. Maximum terms for any board director is 6 years.
