    Raiders Rojos Alumni Association Scholarship Program

    HISTORY & PURPOSE

  • The Raiders Rojos Alumni Association Scholarship Program has awarded well over half a million dollars to Texas Tech students since 2000, including a record number of 28 Scholarships in 2025-26, and is one of the most active Alumni Associations at Texas Tech with regard to scholarships awarded over the last 20+ years.

    This year, the Raiders Rojos Scholarship award amount will be $2000 to each recipient, with $1000 being awarded in the Fall 2026, and the remaining $1000 awarded in the Spring 2027.

    Each scholarship awarded is intended to serve as a retention scholarship for the university, helping current Red Raiders toward their ultimate goal of a degree. With that in mind, our scholarships are only awarded to students who have completed at least two (2) semesters at an eligible Texas Tech University campus, so incoming freshmen are not eligible.

    Raiders Rojos is proud of every single recipient of its scholarships, with recipients boasting an amazing graduation rate of 99%. As an added honor, recipients are required to attend the Annual Recognition Breakfast Event to meet their scholarship sponsor(s) as a way for donors to connect personally with each student. We have found that this tradition of creating a connection between donor and recipient has been the hallmark of our Scholarship Program, and it is something that scholarship donors look forward to each year.

    While scholarship sponsors include individuals and businesses, most are alumni and their families, and many have been providing scholarships for over 20 years. Over that time, the Raiders Rojos Alumni Association has been proud to have over 100 Individuals, Families, and Businesses sponsor over $500,000 in scholarships to 100s of Red Raiders to support them along their educational journey to graduation.

    Since their graduation, scholarship recipients have gone on to become doctors, lawyers, educators, and business owners - many have even gone on to pay it forward and become annual Raiders Rojos Scholarship donors themselves.

  •  SCHOLARSHIP SELECTION PROCESS TIMELINE

    • Online Scholarship Application Opened - May 1st
    • Application Submission Deadline - June 30th @ 6 PM CT
    • Scholarship Recipients will be notified by Email - by August 1st
    • Scholarship Recipients attend Recognition Breakfast - Sat., August 22nd
    • First Day of Fall 2026 Classes - Mon., August 24th

     

     

  • I. ELIGIBILITY DEFINITIONS

    Please read and review the following below definitions before moving forward in the application process. These definitions will help in determining whether your eligible to receive a Raiders Rojos Alumni Association Scholarship. You must meet all of the requirements to be eligible.

  • ◦ FALL & SPRING SEMESTERS – When referenced, applicable semesters to this application are Fall ‘26 – Spring ‘27. 

    ◦ FIRST-GENERATION COLLEGE STUDENT – A student with neither parent/guardian who has completed a Bachelor’s Degree.

    ◦ ELIGIBLE TEXAS TECH UNIVERSITY STUDENT – A student at Texas Tech University’s main campus (Lubbock), or its satellite campuses across Texas and Costa Rica, is eligible to apply and be selected for this scholarship.

    ◦ INELIGIBLE TEXAS TECH NETWORK CAMPUSES – This scholarship is NOT AVAILABLE to students at Angelo State, Midwestern State, Texas Tech University Health Science Center (TTUHSC), or Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center El Paso (TTUHSC – El Paso). If you are a student at one of these institutions, you are not eligible for this scholarship. 

    ◦ FULL-TIME STUDENT – To qualify for this scholarship, you must be enrolled in a minimum of 12 Hours per semester during both the upcoming Fall '26 and Spring '27 Semesters.

    ◦ FINAL SENIOR SEMESTER HOURS EXEMPTION –  For graduating Seniors ONLY, if you fall short of the minimum 12 hours requirement during the upcoming Spring '27 semester, you are still eligible to apply for this scholarship. To qualify under this rule, you must be graduating in May 2027.  

  • II. SCHOLARSHIP ELIGIBILITY QUESTIONS

    To be eligible to receive a Raiders Rojos Alumni Association Scholarship requires that you answer "YES / TRUE"  to every question below, and you must meet every stated criteria listed. Answering "No / False" to any question below will deem your application ineligible.
  • 1. I have read the above definitions and understand they will be used in determining my eligibility for the Raiders Rojos Alumni Association Scholarship, and are key to answering the questions below.*

  • 3. I am a U.S. Citizen? *
  • 4. I am a Texas Tech University student?*
  • 5. I confirm I will be a Full-Time Texas Tech University student (Minimum 12 Hours) during the Fall 2026 Semester?*
  • 6. I confirm I will be a Full-Time Texas Tech University student (Minimum 12 Hours) during the Spring 2027 Semester?*
  • 6b. You indicated that you will not be enrolled as a FULL-TIME Texas Tech University student in Spring 2027. You may still be eligible for this scholarship if Spring 2027 is your final semester and you are graduating in May 2027 (even if you are enrolled in fewer than 12 credit hours per the "Final Senior Semester Hours Exemption" rule outlined in the Eligibility Definitions Section) .... Are you be a Senior set to graduate in May 2027?*
  • 7. I have completed at least two (2) Full-Time semesters at Texas Tech University? (Minimum of 12 Hours/Semester)*
  • 8. I have a minimum Cumulative GPA of 3.25 to be eligible for this scholarship?*
  • 9. Individuals who have previously received a Raiders Rojos Scholarship are not eligible to apply again, as an individual cannot be selected more than once. Please confirm the following: I have NOT previously received a Raiders Rojos Scholarship.*
  • 10. I confirm that I am NOT graduating in December 2026.*

  • You must answer "Yes" to understanding all of the points below about attending the MANDATORY Raiders Rojos Breakfast Recognition Event if you are awarded a Raiders Rojos Scholarship. If a Scholarship Recipient is unable to attend the Recognition Event to meet their donor(s), they will forfeit their scholarship - NO EXCEPTIONS.

  • 11. This year's Raiders Rojos Scholarship Recognition Event will be a Breakfast held on Saturday, August 22, 2026, at 8 AM, at the McKenzie-Merket Alumni Center on the main campus of Texas Tech University. I understand attendance at this event is MANDATORY for all Scholarship Recipients to receive their scholarship and to meet their scholarship donor(s)?*
  • 12. In addition to attending the MANDATORY Scholarship Breakfast event on Saturday, August 22, 2026, I understand Scholarship Recipients must personally write and return to Raiders Rojos a Thank You note that will be provided to the scholarship donor(s) after the recognition breakfast?*
  • 13. I understand that if a Scholarship Recipient does not attend the MANDATORY Scholarship Breakfast on Saturday, August 22, 2026, they will forfeit their scholarship - NO EXCEPTIONS.*

Inability to do so could result in the disqualification of my application or forfeiture of my scholarship.
