WELCOME TO THE REDMOND MINE TOUR
We look forward to meeting and sharing this extraordinary experience with you!
The Redmond Mine is located at 2725 N 100 W -- which is 2 miles north of Redmond Utah. Upon arrival, please enter in Gate #2, go to the main office and our associates will be there to assist you. Our mine experts will take your group in a 25-seat passenger bus into the mine as they explain the geologic wonders of this salt and bentonite deposit, as well as the logistics of Redmond's mining process. You will stop at a large open area of the mine and are welcome to exit the bus, continue the discussion, and walk around to gather your own salt souvenir! Redmond Mine Tours last approximately 60-90 minutes and the mine maintains a temperature of 60 degrees year-round. Please note that guests do need to stand during the 15-20 minute discussion.
Also keep in mind that the mine consists of a maze of dark tunnels. The tunnels have plenty of room for our 60-ton haul trucks, and we keep the lights on when people are down there (unless visitors request a blackout!), but humans aren’t ants, and some people may not be comfortable in that space.
Due to MSHA safety regulations, each guest is required to wear a provided hard hat when exiting the bus, and we are prohibited to allow any children under 12 years old from entering the mine. We appreciate your understanding and apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. Closed-toed shoes are required and you will be standing for approximately 20 minutes for the presentation by our mine expert. No smoking, alcohol, or illegal drugs are allowed in the mine or on the mine tour. It is important to note that we have very limited restroom facilities on site. Taking a restroom break before arriving, especially with a large group, is highly recommended. We do, however, have a lovely store front in our main office that carries many of our most popular food products and are available for purchase at a 15% discount for mine tour guests.
Finally, we will see astounding geologic wonders on our tour, and you are welcome and encouraged to take as many photos as you would like. For safety reasons, we will not see actual machinery or mining in action. To make sure you see it all, we've prepared an informative video, that will show the details of how the salt is mined. This video is on display in our main office.
We love to have visitors and share this treasure with the world. We have worked hard to be able to offer public mine tours once a month. The dates are posted several months in advance and you can sign up through this online form. Spots are filled on a “first-come-first-served” basis and will show "sold out" when that tour is full.
The proceeds of your $25.00 per person fee are used to benefit the Redmond Scholarship Funds that are awarded to local high school students in our area.
We look forward to seeing you!
