Service For A Cause (SFAC) Foundation, Inc. invites all Central Texas high school students to participate in the 2025 Battle of STEM & Robotics Competition on 13 December 2025 from 01:00 pm to 3:00pm. All participants will compete for monetary educational grants which, will be given at the conclusion of the event.

The STEM & Robotics Competition is designed to allow high school students to explore and create new adventures using technology. The program is a component of SFAC vision in Science Technology Engineering Arts and Mathematics - S.T.E.A.M initiative, which allows students to bring new technological advancements to the front of industry under the Education Program.

Through the program, SFAC will award funding to high school students who present outstanding technology initiatives during the competition event. An expert panel of information technology members will evaluate each presentation according to the evaluation criteria sheets. SFAC will award the team (two members) or individual with monetary educational grants to assist in furthering their education or business goals.

Technology has evolved rapidly and changed how we function as a society. We pay bills, order food, buy goods, services & commodities, conduct meetings, body scanners, teaching, health care, and driving electric cars to show how far technology has changed the world. How do we remain connected by the transformation of technology to improve our lives for the next century? Your task is to present or demonstrate a technological advancement in one of the following categories.

a. Artificial Intelligence

b. Social Media

c. Non-fungible tokens - NFTg. Software Engineer

d. Virtual, Augment, or Mixed Reality - VR/AR/MR

e. Metaverse

f. Robotics

g. Software Engineer

h. AI/Gen AI

To apply, simply complete and return the enclosed application to Jon Hawkins, Board Director for SFAC by 4 February 2025. A panel of judges will decide a winner and runner-up in STEM & Robotics categories after presentation of all technology endeavors.

Technology is the application of knowledge, experience, and /or tools and resources in response to human need or want. It's derived by a device, material, or a sequence of mathematical coded electronic instructions by a person mind that is built, assembled, or produced which is not a part of the natural world today. Products or Services are determined by the value and needs of people & acceptance of technology as it satisfies our needs or impacts on health, wellbeing, & structures that occur within our communities.

The STEM & Robotics Competition program allows high school students to use their imagination to create ideas fortune 500 companies or independent entrepreneurs could implement as the next century advancements. The SFAC Foundation believe in our youth and created a platform to showcase their talent while encouraging positive community transformation. As a result of this vision, Central Texas high school students will display their work and receive professional feedback to improve their inventions for educational grants.

• One monetary education grant will be awarded to a team or individual (high school) winner and one monetary grant to the runner-up for the best STEM & Robotics technology invention and presentation as judged by a panel of Information Technology professionals.
• Technology idea's will be presented in person by team or individual at the Battle of STEM & Robotic Competition on 8 February 2025.
• All high school students who submit an idea must be in a certified academic program within Central Texas High School ISDs or private school. An enrollment confirmation letter from high school must be sent to SFAC.
• There is no restriction on creativity of protype or presentation a team or individual provides. Each idea will be judged on the merits outlined in the evaluation sheet.
• No copy rights or intellectual property will be allowed unless documented in presentation.
• Team/individual can receive assistance by an IT professional prior to competition only.
• Teams or individuals will have 15-20 minutes to explain and demo inventions to the judges.
• All presentation or protype information will not be shared, sold, or copied by any other entity
• The Subject line of each entry must state: "STEM & Robotics Competition Entry for (Your Name)".
• Teams or individuals will receive confirmation, along with further directives for the presentation, upon receipt of their entry form.
• Presentation times will be assigned on a first come, first serve basis.
• Bring all special AV equipment you need to present your idea.
• Your presentation should capture how the categories will/can change the world, improve something, or enhance a business.

Creative: Is the invention an original or unique creation?

Commercial Potential: How does your invention translate into a product or service that meets an unmet market need? How big is the market for your product and who are the projected customers? Are their competing technologies already in industry.

Patentability: Has your invention ever been public disclosed and was your work in collaboration with anyone?

Strength of Innovation: What are the problems your technology solves and is there a Strength of Innovation technological advantage over current industry standards? How easy would it be to work around or use your technology?

Implementation: Importance of the new technological outcome with regards to its transformational impact on technology and society.

Life Cycle Cost & Schedule:The process to evaluate the economic performance cost to maintain the system over its entire life.

Accessibility: Steps to access your invention or protype.

Security: What common practices are used to protect vulnerabilities and risk?
