SLSQ will be conducting a new SLSA Silver Medallion Patrol Captain Course to members wishing to become a future patrol captain. The course aims to equip you with the skills and knowledge required to confidently manage a beach and a patrol as a Surf Life Saving Patrol Captain.
This is a 2-day course and requires the completion of online learning, as well as the completion of an on the job training checklist (where you will be required to have a go at leading a patrol under the supervision of a qualified patrol captain) prior to attending the course. The face to face competent of the course includes further learning and desktop scenarios as well as a practical scenario assessment.
The course pre-requisites are:
- 17 years and over at the date of completion
- Have held a Bronze Medallion
- Hold Certificate II in Public Safety (Aquatic Rescue)
- Current proficient Bronze Medallion OR another proficient patrolling award
- Have a minimum of 2 years patrolling experience
- Have completed SLSQ Working with Children requirements: including a current blue card, CYRMS & CSA
If you haven't completed the Bronze Medallion Mental Health Awareness or the Safer Surf Clubs eLearning courses it is recommended that you complete these modules prior to completing this course.
