AOF Presidential Memorial Leadership Award

The UIWSOM Scholarship and Awards Commitee has been tasked with nominating (1) student from our medical school.
Purpose
This scholarship was created to recognize Osteopathic medical students, actively involved in the AOA, who are committed to the principles of Osteopathic medicine and who have taken great strides toward becoming top student leaders. These individuals have been instrumental in motivating people, and they take conscious, well-calculated steps to develop themselves and their followers.
Scholarship
One (1) educational scholarship in the amount of $10,000 will be awarded to a student who exemplifies Osteopathic principles and best aligns with the scholarship purpose.
Eligibility
• Current OMS II, III, or IV in good standing at a COCA-Accredited College/School of Osteopathic Medicine
•Current AOA membership required to apply. (Register for complimentary AOA student membership here.)
• Demonstrated commitment to the Osteopathic profession through word and deed. Participation in an AOA committee, workgroup or State Association is preferred.
• Strong leadership skills and demonstrated use of these skills.
• Noteworthy accomplishments, awards and honors, special projects and extracurricular activities that demonstrate the nominee’s leadership abilities
APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS
***must be submitted using this form by Monday, April 15, 2024***
- A one (1) page personal statement from the nominee that outlines their exemplary leadership, service and character, as well as their commitment to Osteopathic medicine
- Two (2) letters of recommendation from the following list: academic medical instructor, Osteopathic physician, professional mentor, or similar professional within the Osteopathic profession, detailing the nominee’s leadership qualities, their commitment to Osteopathic principles, and what unique characteristics qualify them for this award
- Current curriculum vitae or resume (include all current memberships, Osteopathic or other), and a current photo
- Proof of AOA student membership
- An unofficial copy of the student’s COM/SOM transcript
