Since its beginning, STAR Institute has straddled the world of Neurodivergence, striving to support children and adults who process sensory information in ways different to our typical understanding of sensory processing. STAR Institute is on a journey ofself-improvement and respect that others are on different stages in thatjourney. While holding onto our core ethos and ethics and respecting the people we work with, their families and other professionals, we wish to work with other organizations and groups that are prepared to undertake the same journey and whose ethos mirrors ours in both ideology and practice. My organization recognizes and supports the existence of neurodivergency as a natural condition of the human experience, where brains that are structured differently function differently, with their own set of strengths and gifts. Neurodivergency is to be celebrated, not fixed. Initials 3. My organization’s intentions are to serve neurodivergent communities in positive, respectful, individual-centric manners.Initials 4. My organization is open and willing to learn more about neurodivergent communities’ needs, expectations, and most current respectful use of language. Initials 5.
