Potential Sponsor Policy Questions

Since its beginning, STAR Institute has straddled the world of Neurodivergence, striving to support children and adults who process sensory information in ways different to our typical understanding of sensory processing. STAR Institute is on a journey of
self-improvement and respect that others are on different stages in that
journey. While holding onto our core ethos and ethics and respecting the people we work with, their families and other professionals, we wish to work with other organizations and groups that are prepared to undertake the same journey and whose ethos mirrors ours in both ideology and practice. Who we choose to work with is a reflection of us and our responsibility to those we serve.

In an attempt to collaborate with partners who share our worldview, we humbly
ask that you read the below statements and initial for those your organization
agrees with.

Initials 1. My organization supports STAR Institute’s mission: To impact quality of life by developing and promoting best practices for sensory health and wellness through treatment, research and education.
 
Initials 2. My organization recognizes and supports the existence of neurodivergency as a natural condition of the human experience, where brains that are structured differently function differently, with their own set of strengths and gifts. Neurodivergency is to be celebrated, not fixed.
 
Initials  3. My organization’s intentions are to serve neurodivergent communities in positive, respectful, individual-centric manners.

Initials  4. My organization is open and willing to learn more about neurodivergent communities’ needs, expectations, and most current respectful use of language.
 
Initials  5. My organization does not utilize behavioral therapies* within its practice or support the use of behavioral therapies.* (*STAR Institute defines behavioral therapies as named practices such as ABA - Applied Behavioral Analysis, PBS- Positive Behavior Support, or any derivatives and or off-shoots. This does not include mental health related therapies such as CBT, DBT, etc.).
 
Initials   6. My organization does not currently employ or contract with BCBAs or BCaBAs.

Initials   7. My organization recognizes the intersectionality of Neurodivergence across multiple marginalized groups including but not limited to race, disability, gender, sexual orientation and does not discriminate against any of these groups or those individuals that span multiple groups.

STAR Institute reserves the right to retain any monies related to sponsorship/exhibiting from sponsor of any STAR Institute programs, products, events, etc. based on false or intentionally withheld information provided above.
