SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS
The application is due on or before May 9th at 5:00PM and must include:
A completed Santa Ynez Valley Airport Authority Scholarship Application Form
This form may also be downloaded at santaynezairport.com/scholarship.
A maximum 500 word, typed descriptive essay that details:
Have you done anything to further your interest in aviation?
List your attendance at Airport Day and Young Eagles events.
What is your current level of interest in aviation?
Are you intending to apply to a military academy i.e. West Point, Annapolis, Air Force Academy? How do you see aviation as fitting into your future plans?
Any previous educational scholarships, awards and honors.
Letters of Recommendation
Include three (3) Letters of Recommendation (i.e.teacher,employer,pastor,or aeronautical professional, one of whom must be an educator)
In addition, IF APPLICABLE, copies of:
The last three (3) pages of your pilot logbook if you have previous pilot training
If you have attended a Young Eagles Event your Young Eagles Logbook
Finalists Interview
Scholarship finalists must be available for interview during week of May 11th-14th, 2026 Scholarship will be awarded on May 16th, 2026 at Airport Day
The selection criteria will include:
Attitude toward self and others Commitment to success
Dedication to career
Previous achievements
Ability to follow directions with attention to details.
Students who reside within the Santa Ynez Valley High School District are eligible to apply.
Applicants must have reached their 16th birthday by May 16th 2026 and not be older than 25 years on May 16th 2026.
