Monday, May 4th to Sunday, May 10th (1 week)
Each year we gather a group of experienced and skilled gardeners together for a work week to get our summer gardens going, prepping beds, mulching fruit trees, ammending soil, tending compost, organizing the greenhouse, weeding, sowing seeds, planting starts, pruning perennials, removing dead growth, etc. Everyone learning from each other, bringing new life and ideas to the land, collectively offering our time, labor, and skills towards feeding the Salmon Creek community for the season.
SCHEDULE
- Monday: Arrivals exclusively from 3:00-6:00pm.
- Tuesday: Orientation to Salmon Creek Farm 10:30-noon. Garden orientation and general meeting in the afternoon, reviewing group experiences, skills, intentions, interests, and reading lists.
- Wednesday to Saturday: Around 5 to 6 hours per day working in the gardens and orchard.
- Sunday departures by 11am.
- All particpants to stay for the duration of the week.
ELIGIBILITY
- Open to experienced and skilled gardeners ages 22 and over.
- You need a car to reach us and for the duration of your stay. We are located near the remote coastal village of Albion, California. Closest airports are SFO (3.5 hrs) and Santa Rosa STS (2 hrs).
- Accessibility issues with all cabins, remote from parking and reached on foot.
- Be available to stay for the entire duration of the program.
- We are not able to host pets or children during our workshops.
- This is a rustic outdoor-centric experience close to the land. Be willing, able, and even enthusiastic to walk trails, shower outdoors, and use an outhouse.
COMMUNITY
- Capacity of 8 to 9 participants in private self-sufficient cabins.
- Couples and friends are welcome to apply and share a cabin (with 2 beds if needed).
- Apply individually and add their names in question #4.
ACCOMMODATIONS
- All cabins have fast wifi, outhouses, kitchenettes, hot outdoor showers, and bedding/towels.
- Also open to guests: communal outdoor kitchen/dining, triangle dance deck, and hiking trail down to Salmon Creek.
- All SCF kitchens are vegetarian.
FINANCIALS
- $100/person to cover cleaning and administrative expenses, due upon booking and non-refundable.
