Thank you for following our successful launch of the Open Doors, Step Up scheme. To enable us to provide the most helpful programme possible, please complete this survey to indicate your preferences for the upcoming course.
Career-based sessions (please tick if interested)
Careers associated with film, media, gaming, and where you can fit in (1.5 hours; recommended for everyone)
Interactive session for the practicalities of setting up a business, led by a local business owner (1.5 hours; recommended for everyone)
Networking, self-promotion, and social media (1.5 hours; recommended for everyone)
In-depth advice; budgeting, spreadsheets, making a work plan, funding, sorting out benefits, etc; plus a chance to seek specific advice (1.5 hours)
Creating an elevator pitch, including making a recording and working to improve communication skills and confidence (2 hours)
Skill-based career sessions (please tick if interested)
Basic camera skills & using different approaches according to the platform (2.5 hours)
Advanced camera skills & introduction to high-end kit (2.5 hours)
Writing & developing a story in gaming (2.5 hours)
Careers in sound; using sound equipment & basic sound recording & effects (2.5 hours)
In-depth practical sound session; recording vox pops & interacting with a professional voiceover artist (2.5 hours)
Careers in set & prop design, with crossover into interior design & game design (2.5 hours)
Basic editing skills & using free editing software, plus setting up an edit (2.5 hours)
More advanced editing skills using your own footage (2.5 hours)
Team-based day; creating a film, VR, or audio piece with others & exploring creative roles (5 hours)
Showcase-based career sessions (please tick if interested)
Working with a community group to create an information film, TikTok, or sound piece with support for initial setup, scoping, kit, and tech. The piece will be promoted & shown at a public showcase. (4 hours, plus 2 days of your own time for production; recommended for those with more experience in running a local business)
Practical showcase skills; setting up a stand, introducing a film, and producing a portfolio. (2 hours)
